BMW has been pretty good with rear seat space in their coupe so I do not think it would be a problem.
Are you going for the M2 instead now??

Not sure yet. I am going to wait to see what it looks like and what buyers have to say about it. It is 1 of 4 cars I am considering.

May I ask what the other 4 cars are? As I am also in the midst of cross shopping too. I’m looking for something that would accommodate myself, my wife and two young kids into their teenage years. I’ve considered the G80 M3 but hate the front grill.

Sure, but mind you my list may change over time only because we are currently paying off my wife's new SUV and I personally do not like having multiple car payments. I will have it paid off in 2 to 2 and a half years.

In order of preference...

1. CPO 718 Cayman GTS 4.0
2. New G87 M2
3. CPO 911 (a new one is out of my budget)
4. New or CPO Lotus Emira

I actually do not mind the front grill of the M3 and M4. I decided I am not interested in either one for another reason...they are BIG. I saw one up close for the first time a week or so ago and the size of it really stood out to me. That is kind of why I have been wondering what the length of the M2 will be. I am sure it will be shorted than the M3/M4 but am hoping it is quite a bit shorter.

Yeah I think it is quite a bit shorter but not sure by how much. Maybe someone here can post up the stats??

Does anyone know if the G87 M2 will be longer in length than the F87 M2 ??

I know that it will be wider but will it also be lengthier?

Oh ok, not a massive difference then but I’m guessing it’s also not that much shorter in length that the G82 M4 right?

G80/2 M3/4/c
Length 189.1"
Width excluding mirrors 74.3"
Height 55.3"

G42 M240i xDrive
Length 179.4"
Width excluding mirrors 72.4"
Height 54.9"

G42 is 10.3" shorter. The G87 M2 may be slightly longer due to more aggressive bumpers, but it won't be that far off of the G42. For reference, the E92 M3 was 181.69" long, so it's a tad shorter than that car.

Notice the difference in width is just over 2" between the G42 and the G80/2. Expect the G87 M2 to be close if not the same width as the G80/2. Also the height of the G42 is .4" taller than the M3/4; expect the G87 to have the same lowered height as well.

The G87 is going to have a wicked stance sitting low, wide and having 275mm tires in front and 285mm tires in the rear.

Agreed it will have a great bulldog stance. I like it!

I'm both excited and worried at the same time. Excited that it's going to be an awesome car, worried that I won't like some of design elements. The part that worries me the most is the rear. We've seen one leaked pic and I didn't care for rear bumper design. It looked overly boxy with what seemed to be too many right angles. I'll reserve my full judgment until the reveal.

I hear ya, I feel the same. A lot about the car looks and sounds sweet but need to see it in the flesh to pass judgement.

Interesting that the ratio of width to length of G42 is already almost 1% more than the G80. If the M2 grows in width another 2", it's going to have quite a stance.

The 992 is huge, yet still a sharp car. Jerry Seinfeld on a recent episode of Spike’s Car Radio confessed that he thinks the 992 is simply too big and he has not gotten used to it.

Sadly, the G87 will have less rear passenger space than a F87. You can see for yourself on a G42. The rear seating is basically unusable for anyone taller than 5’ 5”, 5’6”, especially if the driver and front passenger are 5’10”+.
