I spoke with my dealer this week and he said that they're thinking that the m2 is going to have a reservation process similar to what there doing with the XM where you have to put a 5k deposit down with BMW to get on a waitlist in order for your dealer to get an allocation.

Can anyone provide anymore information on this process? I'm used to just putting a small deposit with my dealer to get a spot in line and then placing my order once my allocation becomes available.

Allocation

I put down $2500 back in June. Of course it goes towards your down payment when ordering.. It shouldn't be any more complicated than that.

100% will not have a preorder process. I know because I asked during the XM conference call.

I am officially off the list now. Know we haven't seen the full reveal yet but the car just isn't shaping out to be something I'll be 100% in love with.

It was fun doing some detective work and finding leaks etc. Bought a GT350R instead and am loving every minute of that car. Maybe I'll be back down the road. Hope you all get the M2 you've been waiting for

Put a deposit down while I determine if I like the looks. I think I will be out if there is no other color interior for the carbon buckets besides black. Someones said cognac is another option, but did not specify if only for standard seats.

In a good situation though, 5% below MSRP and no tax (military program), so I'll be satisfied if everything is to my liking.

Well, I've been invited to a Launch event.

My route home takes me past the OPC though, so I can see how I feel...

Waiting list and allocation are differnt my dealer already told me its $4500 for allocation back in Fecualry. Allocation is when you have speced and order your vehicle this is un refundable.

My allocation down payments are refundable all the up to delivery and acceptance with my dealer. They were concerned that BMW was going to require a $5k non-refundable deposit directly to them similar to the XM but it looks like it's confirmed that's not the case for the g87

Wouldn't make much sense on a 60k production car.

I just called my dealer to see if getting an allocation for this car will be possible for me as someone with a current deposit on an M240i. I hope to just "move" that deposit over to the M2 and get in line, if there is one.

Does this seem like a stretch to anyone?

Alright well I'm going to put this here-

Based on the early leaks, I really did not like the way the car was shaping up. Post reveal, I have to admit I was early to jump the gun and actually like the car a lot more than I thought I would. Still not as good as I was hoping but pretty damn close.

I've already pulled my deposit and bought a '19 GT350R so I won't be getting an M2 for a few more years at best. But I'll be interested in the upcoming M2 Comp only if it retains the manual and more colors are offered.

I have to admit I was rather surprised to see how much better the car looked after full reveal vs the leaks we received (even tho it's the same car). Maybe it's bc the ZB color is garbage but I really like the red.

At least all the subject-matter experts with 2 month old accounts who can't bear to listen to opposing opinions on a forum are prob having their 5 mins of fame right about now

I'm one of those new accounts lol. It was pretty clear the leaks were all from unfavorable angles, except the front 3/4 view from further back. Glad to hear you came around though, I'm sure the GT350R is going to be a hell of a ride.

Def sounds plausible. Just as a reference these are the key dates for the G42.

4/30 Order placed
5/9 Scheduled for week 25 production
6/15 Production begins - VIN provided
7/5 Left the port aboard Glovis Spirit
7/21 Arrived at Baltimore port
8/3 Arrived at Patrick BMW in Chicagoland
8/6 Scheduled Pickup

Was just shy of 100 days beginning to end.

Blew my mind that some of you guys would jump the gun and backing out of your slots because you couldn't wait another week AND were basing everything off of terrible leaked pics. Live and learn!
