TL;DR: "probs the best driving bmw with a manual, G87 has lost the fizz"

The why is even simpler.

The G20 chassis, on which all of these cars are based on, is overweight to begin with. Unfortunately, they feel substantial in corners; not that you feel the heft in the cheaped out interior, for instance.

And BMW M GmbH did not put as much emphasis on adding lightness as they did with the F80. Bracing, yes, that's what they do with every M2-M5.

But, truthfully, BMW M cars have never really been lightweight. That comes with age.

As I like to say, the Supra SHOULD handle better. It's a 2 seater with compromised comfort/practicality.

If the G87 (a 4 seater daily driver) beat the A90 on all performance metrics AND also on practicality, with relatively close price points, it would be very weird.

And I agree, the baseline Ms have never really focused on being light. Not the ethos of the brand.

Yes, but the Supra is a Z4 and the Z4 is not an M GmbH product.

Sorry, I don't understand what point you are making here.

They are all CLAR-based cars, yes (as are all the G series cars).
