Ohh I’m same week (17th) - need to check with my sales guy if the status has changed! Does anyone know if we can track the production like the US guys seem to be able to? Like in the app or via emails?

To memory I could track some minor status changes for my G42 build - with the BMW site and I think I needed the VIN. We don't seem to get the detail they get in the US for some reason..

Cost of implementation > value provided. Only 25m of us here in Aus compared to the 350+ in the US... sigh

Overall positive, was a bit concerned about the TH review and one other regarding the manual (I would be a manual buyer), but after hearing RBR assessment (he owns an M2CS) and especially this German one https://youtu.be/_H-EDj9gj1w not so concerned about the driving experience of the manual. Still reserving judgment on looks till I see in the metal, I don't hate it but have not felt the same appreciation of form as I did with the original and Competition. Overall I think I will probably buy one, I pulled out of a G80 as it felt too sensible when I drove it, I do not think that will be the case with the G87 based on these reviews. Just need to get an allocation and sell the f87!

The reviews have been ok, generally what I had expected.

The negative commentary in the reviews thread on this forum bring me to the conclusion that car just has to be seen and driven first hand and it's best not to listen to anyone really. It will be a great car and I absolutely love it.

I am also sure the manual gearbox will be fantastic.

I thought the reviews have been positive and not a lot of surprises from my end, coming from G42 owner who has driven G80/G82s and previously have owned an F series M4 - and have a G82 going into production on the 17th of the month.

Biggest surprise perhaps was slightly more negative press around the manual feel then expected, it's the same box as the M3/M4 which gets relatively good review.

It seems this is mainly because the manual gearing and M2 S58 tuning is maybe not as well suited as in the M3. It seems they've dialed out some low to mid range torque in the M2 tune, I assume to help with power transfer on the shorter chassis. This also explains why the auto can launch control in 1st gear, the the M3 rwd launches in 2nd gear.

I was hoping for some positive reviews around steering feel as this is one of the few aras my G42 lacks. The steering feel of the M2 seems mixed across the reviews. I suspect it will have some increased feel then the G42 but perhaps marginally so (M3 feels slightly better than my G42).

I'm surprised at how quick the car runs 0-100 on unprepped roads, 3.6-3.8 seconds across the reviews is faster then I personally thought it would be. I also expected it to launch in 2nd gear, so there you go.

Having seen the car in person and being a fan of the G42 the mixed reviews of the design doesn't surprise me. It's a modern design that's not for everyone. But I like, especially in person. Less so in photos. Since I'll be enjoying my car - in person - I'm happy.

The lengths the engineers went to to stiffne the chassis was also a great surprise. It tells me they've spent time dialing in the car. Explains some of the heft, as a positive and given how stiff the G42 is - I can't wait to feel the M2.

The rest is as expected - a better, cheaper, more fun M4. Exactly what I was excited for when I ordered my Brooklyn Grey, Auto, M2.

Agreed for the most part on the above.

Having seen the car in person, I absolutely love the way it looks. It doesn't photograph well.

The way I see it, the M2 is a more fun M4 rather than a more fun M2, with characteristics taken from the OG M2 and the M4 blended into what can be best described as a track car that handles well at high speeds. So you get lesser of the hooning at low gears and more stability across the bands. An M4 lite with 2 series specs to keep price low. What baffles me is the lack of a 360 cam and the cast wheels..

NGL have been doubting my manual order since the reviews dropped but if I’m honest with how I’m going to use the car (just a weekender) I think it’s fine, the whole point for me with this car is to be more engaged in the process, if it’s slower who cares, I’m not going to track it- just Tassie backroads. Definitely going for a different feel from either my old M140i Auto or Model 3 perf *clutch pearls* lol don’t worry the Tesla is gone in prep for the M2 😂

M2 will be built in a couple of weeks anyway so too late now!

My M2 will be my daily, if it was my weekender I'd 90% likely bought the manual like you - reviews be damned. My weekend car is a manual R34 GTR and the gearbox and turbo lag requiring proper shifting to keep it in power band is a huge part of what I love about it.

And just because the manual might be slow(er) then the auto by no means will it be slow!! The S58 is a mighty mighty beast.

You won't be disappointed.

Confirmed production 25th of the Month.

Congratulations mate! I'm 8 May but will only believe it once I get my VIN number. Ask for yours if you haven't got it already.

You can't be far off a VIN mate. Once you get it you can chuck it in the MyBMW app and start to track progress to your driveway.
