G87 Coding

Anyone had any luck connecting any app (ESYS, Bimmercode, Protool, etc.) to the car and coding any module?

I’m having trouble connecting even and I’m not sure it’s my setup or if the apps I tried are not compatible with the car still.

I don't think it's compatible with ID8 yet? Correct me if I'm wrong though

I used Bimmercode to disable ASD, that's about it.

So it did work ok to connect and it gave you some functions at least huh. So maybe my connection/setup is messed up. Thanks for this!

That's cool. How is the natural motor sound w/o the ASD in the M2? You hear these statements about the cabin insulation removing so much sound that one needs the artificial sound to hear the motor revving, etc. One wonders...

It's quite subjective; some people aren't happy until they are running w/o a muffler so they can "hear the car"

IMHO, the engine sound is still reasonably perceptible in the car; as long as I'm not blasting the speakers. I was actually surprised I could hear it quite clearly; though with the stock intakes turbo sound is nearly non-existent. Listening to the engine is pretty important to the manual driving experience for me.

With the windows up you admittedly don't get much exhaust sound at all, even in sport.

Sport mode is still quite loud IMHO when you crack the windows

I got the email from Bimmercode saying I could use the 3-series/M3 option to code, with limited functionality.

I was able to code a few things, but no headlight coding yet.

Anyone ever used Bimmer Utility for mobile devices? Wondering if it would work for the headlights…

BTW I was able to connect to my iPhone using this CAD15 adapter as I didn’t want to spend much on an adapter since I already had an ENET cable lying around. Happy with results and the cheap solution.

Posting here as well, since Bimmercode supports our cars for some functions, but e-sys and Bimmercode in Expert Mode can be used for coding anti-dazzle headlights:

Open Bimmercode
Choose 3 Series/M3

- Go into the BDC Module
- Choose Expert Mode
- Find the following options and change them to these settings:

LA1
C_BLC_PRE_ENA | 1
LUT_FLC_FORWARDLIGHTING_Y | AFS

LA2
C_AFS_ECO_LEVEL_3_ENA | 01
C_AFS_ENA | 01

LA3
LUT_AFS_CODRV_HOR | standard/init
LUT_AFS_DRV_HOR | F040_G005_AHL...
C_CLC_CURV_V2 | 23
C_CLC_CURV_V3 | 28
C_CLC_EXT_ENA | 01
C_HBA_DIM_ENA | 01
C_HBA_GFHBA_ENA_V_HI | 3C
C_HBA_GFHB_ENA | 01

- Hit "Code"
- Enjoy!

I had an Ethernet cable from coding an F-series with E-sys already, so I didn’t want to spend too much. I bought this and it works well with my iPhone:

Is there a sticky that can be created (by someone knowledgeable) with a list of all the options that can be done? It's all piecemeal and overwhelming. I definitely want to apply many of the changes recommended in the various posts.

I agree. I think it would be extremely helpful.

It would also be helpful to know what many of you have coded (i.e. what is beneficial and what isn't).

I know that many highly recommend coding the B&W audio. I would code the turn signals to 5 repetitions instead of 3.
