Got the car back just now with no luck. The CarPlay GPS seems to have been resolved but I'll be skeptical for the next couple days.

In regard to the right rear thump, they said they couldn't hear anything and weren't willing to do a test drive with me today but could maybe come in sometime next week.

For what it's worth, after repeated attempts of BMW NA to get me to fill out their survey. I did yesterday, it really comprised of one question how enthusiastically would I recommend the 2023 BMW M240, 1-10, it's an 8 for me, but under the comment box, I wrote in no uncertain terms the frustration that we are all experiencing with the annoying noise with no remedy in sight. They wanted an actual depiction of my 5 months ownership, they got it, maybe, just maybe someone upstream with take on the challenge of making us all whole on what is undoubtedly the result of faulty parts.

Hey dallas.daines. My M240 has the same window squeak! I went to the dealer and they just apply some silicon, worked for a week and then came back. The map showing 1 mile off was happening too (when using the apple car play map), they were aware and updated my software to rev 11 I think, is the Nov 22 version and the problem went away. Please keep us informed what is the stance of a German dealer about the clunking/rattle issue, thanks!

For what it’s worth, after fixing my parcel shelf rattle per the linked thread below, it seems my “thump” has been reduced by at least 80%. Could also be the warmer weather… wondering if that wasn’t at least part of the problem

Update: the revised strut has made it to the dealer and I'm going to get it installed on 05/18. I'll check back in after the install.

Here’s another data point. I coded in Comfort+ using BimmerCode and the suspension noise is 100% gone. Comf+ definitely has a smoother suspension feel compared to regular comfort. Almost to a fault where it feels a bit floaty. I swear BMW should have named comfort mode “Eco non-Pro” mode… But go back to sport+ and you can here the suspension thump again, even after my rear deck lid fix.

Hello, I have a G22 (4 series) with the same issue. The part number of the rear shocks on my vehicle is the same as that in the photos on previous pages. I have been through the motions with BMW several times to be repeatedly told they dont hear anything. I have found that bilstein make a B4 damptronic shock as an OE equivalent for our vehicles (References 2 Series, 3 Series & 4 Series in the linked vehicles). Has anyone tried these? I'm seriously thinking of buying a pair once the warranty is out in 6 months or so...

Update: I had the new strut installed on 5/18 and my car is noticeably quieter. I'd highly recommend everyone give it a shot.

Apologies if you posted it before, but do you have a part number to reference? Dealer swapped it out free of charge?

Definitely need a part number on this new strut. I don't trust my dealer to install the correct strut

Hi. Can you remind me: did you get your dealer to agree to replace the strut or was there a service bulletin?

There are no service bulletins yet, and the part number had not changed last I checked. There’s a revised part index number on the shock as I mentioned in a prior post, but this number is NOT A PART NUMBER.

The last M240i I did the PDI on had the new index revision on the rear shocks and wasn’t totally silent. It was definitely quieter than my car, though. Looks like it’s time for me to replace mine.

I have been patiently waiting for install lowering springs. What are the odds if I have the issue identified now that later if a bulletin comes out and I'm lowered they wont give me a bunch of nonsense because of the lowering springs?

You’re much better off having it addressed when the suspension is stock. Anyone not familiar with this particular issue will probably blow you off if you bring it in modified. Just my opinion.

I really hoped one of yall would have figured this out by now! I have been just ignoring it, and I dont daily my M240 anyway. I wonder if the M2s are doing it.

I’ve been driving a lot in Comfort Plus (BimmerCode) so I don’t hear it at all. But really hoping for an official fix as well…

I hear it as soon as I jump into sport mode

Still living with this noise. Has anyone, who had the noise, gotten it fixed 100% yet? IF so, please share. BMW replaced both of my rear dampers under warranty last December, but nothing changed.

Ditto.

Perhaps this has been addressed already in this (long) thread, but has this "thump" persisted across model years? My G42 is a 2022 M240iX. Are there others with 2023 models who have the same thump?

Yes I have the thump with my MY2023. Although I have not been hearing it in the warmer months in Comfort or Comfort+ suspension modes. Going to wait and see if it’s noticeable again when the temps drop. Still hear it occasionally in Sport suspension

Mines a 23. Seems fine in comfort but sport it thumps. Had it at the dealer for a recall and asked about it they had no idea. Was really hoping to get it fixed prior to lowering but may just do it.

If you do lower the car, let us know how it goes. If there’s any difference in thumpage
