I'm not seeing a massive demand so far for this car. 2 M dealerships I'm working with and one has 3 people on the list and another has 4. Neither is charging ADM. Neither is expecting a crazy wait for this car. The only catch being the current allocations haven't come in yet, so maybe there's an issue on the BMW side.

Golf R's are backed up for a year or more and similar demand on the civic type R. I think those that want this M2 can shop around and get on a shorter list and have one by summer.

Who knows. Another thread a guy said he was either number 3 or 4 on the list and was told possibly two years. I think everything is speculation at this point.

I can't disagree that it's up to BMW and any supply chain issues on whether cars get built but in either case this car doesn't have long lines of people waiting to get in. I don't think it's the car either as in terms of performance, tech, etc, it seems to be a good value.

That's surprising.
About 10 NJ dealers I've contacted wanted an ADM from 2k to 15k and had an average of 5 people in line.
One dealer in PA had 9 people in line and said the wait will be 3 years.

Has not been my experience at all. In fact there are dealerships that will not charge ADM as a corporate policy. Keep looking.

Also if they only get 9 M2s in 3 years (3 per year), then they probably don't sell many M cars and therefore don't get allocations. That's a big red flag on that dealership.

This guy?
He just replied with "I don't understand why you're asking but not interested in spending the time."

Lol and now he said to either take his word or not, doesn't bother him.

Grant you he is confusing it for the order bank.

I found 2 dealers about 4 hours from me that have no one on the waitlist for an allocation. (Every other dealer closer to me has 5-20 people on the list.)

They are both small low volume dealers that sell maybe 3-4 M cars total a year. One of them might be able to put an order in for me with no deposit (he's getting management approval) and the other wants 5% non-refundable just for an order. I'd like to hedge my bet between both of them but can't figure out the best way to do it.

“Low volume” and other internal factors impact allocations.

How do you know whether dealership sells many M cars or not? Is there a way to check this?

Common sense to me. New hot product comes out.. you either jump on it or you end up waiting and waiting.

Agreed. I put a deposit of $500 back in November of 2021. I like the g87 m2 from what I’ve seen. If I get it and I don’t like it then I’ll sell it and move on. To me it beats waiting to drive it, loving it and waiting another year or so to own one.

No US allocations came out today. Too bad. Hopefully we will get some this month but it might be January.
