Any “limited edition” of a G87 will be in excess of $100k. With various options and ttt, one is probably going to be in the $120k range, +/-.

Irregardless the 406 ft-lb toque number will be the restricting factor just as it is in the 3.0 CSL. FYI, The CSL manual is a carryover.

Lastly, BMW, Getrag nor ZF are not going to R&D a new manual transmission towards the end of ICE. It will never happen!

Like I said before nobody knows the answer until BMW makes the announcement. Unless you have a connect working at BMW, it is anyone's guess. We can keep speculating until EOP of G87 I am very familiar with the ZF MT. Having owned three M cars with them and still have a couple used Clutch and Flywheel in my garage Did you expect a "Limited Edition" for less than $100k?

The BMW specs in the press release for the 2018 M2C show 550Nm of torque (406lbft) - https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/globa...79885EN/415275

ZF rate the S6-53 up to 600Nm, but BMW has never done that, likely due to the torque being under rated on cars using that transmission, so that they don't exceed the ZF limit.

I had my M2C at close to 550 lbs-ft with a tune of course. Never had any issues. On the contrary with my G80, I had close to 480 lbs ft with piggyback and the transmission made a clunking noise. Dyno on M2C shows 475 lbs ft stock. Here
https://www.bmwblog.com/2018/10/19/b...orque-on-dyno/
You know they always underrate those.

The IND stock G87 dyno run gave 487 lbft (660Nm) at the crank, so obviously beyond the maximum nominal 550Nm / 406 lbft that BMW quote: https://ind-distribution.com/blogs/n...87-m2-dyno-run, a good reason why BMW are unlikely to increase the torque anymore as it is already beyond the ZF 600Nm rating.

Obviously this is speculation and nobody knows, but what are the odds this is a CSL and not a CS? Trying to plan to think ahead a little bit.

Sorry for those G87 lovers, I think it’s still ugly as fuck. I think that is a popular issue with new BMW models.

Forget about the CS, with 75 m2 per month for US market (i was told, and I hope that person is wrong!) it takes years to get a regular M2!

And what exactly is he going to do with less weight ? For ppl who are not pushing these cars to there limits the weight is a none issue, do not confuse weight and overall compliance/isolation.

I just did a 2-day track event with my 2023 M3 and the main thing holding me back to push more is that I don't feel the car enaugh, hoping some little tweaks like BMW Has + monoballs will up the feedback a bit, yes there will be more NVH, today most ppl want everything without the drawbacks so that's what we get, fast shifting transmission but without the low speed quirks so bye DCT and we get 8ZF..

It's almost surprising BMW built these carbon buckets witch do help a lot to feel the car.

Whaaa are you talking about?! Weight is one of THE most palpable feelings of driving any car on the road. Less weight creates a feeling of agility that NO amount of power or suspension modification can generate.

It’s incredible to me how far motoring culture has declined—to not appreciate less weight as a great feature of a driver’s car

Weight is killing the fun in any car. The lighter the better!

I have taken the plunge and ordered a GT4RS i don’t want a bigger and heavier car then an M2 competition which is already on the heavy side.

The only bmw in the stable is an X1 The fun cars are from other brands.
