BMW knows early G87 adopters already have deposits down for an M2 CS. Those EAs get to drive the base model for a couple of years and then trade up. Everyone's happy... that is until the CSL comes out; these same people will also have a deposit down on that model as well. BMW understands its customer demographic quite well.

That rear integrated rear spoiler is MUCH TOO CHUNKY for those wide hips & big thick G87 but (no pun intended - it's true).
But that hood is sexy (from what we can see this far)...

For sure I'm out if no MT. I don't feel all that sad giving the CSL back.

Man no xdrive 4000 lbs bullsht plz. MT is good, and the rumored DCT+S58 combo from GRMN Supra would be really nice.

Agreed.

Let me reiterate, the CS and CSL are limited production models. We know this to be fact. They will never be massed produced and most certainly not as we approach the demise of ICE. Just as an example, the F90 is the last full ICE M5 and it is tapping out with the CS. If you recall it was offered with a base, comp and post LCI the CS. |

Probably skipping the Competition version since the base M2 is already nipping at the heels of the M4. It’s already too similar of a car.
What improvements would the M2 Competition bring anyway? xDrive? That would basically make the M2 vs M4 choice a no-brainer for many, especially people who aren’t too keen on the beaver teeth as a design element. If you want xDrive, BMW will make you wait for the M2 CS or upsell you into an M3/4. |

CS definitely not worth the price difference vs OG for some minor cosmetic changes, a CS badge and perhaps a small tune…. I doubt they’ll be able to drop the weight much

Do you think they’ll do a Comp and a CS/CSL, or do you buy the theory they’re going to skip the Comp and go straight to a CS? It seems weird for M to not do a Competition version of a car, even though I have no idea what they’d do to the current base to make it a Comp. Seems like they may have limited headroom to work with between the performance levels of the current base model and a CS.

Oh man, I just got my G87 haha
In all seriousness though this looks cool, forged wheels standard, carbon hood with vents, carbon mirror caps, more aggressive splitter and a bigger wang/diffuser.. looks good! Probably going to have another 30-50hp too.

I definitely can’t foresee a CS coming out before a Comp. They seem to always go by pecking order. But then I’m no authority on the history of M, so maybe I missed something.
