As someone who is at a track almost every weekend I cannot argue that!

The Corvettes and especially the z06 and ZR1 are flipping amazing.

For ME, i have always owned BMW or Mercedes Sports cars. I have never owned a GM product ever. LOL

Back to the G M2- the styling was meant to give pause and the comfort, cool gismos, power and plush interior are all home runs for the Ave driver who will daily and go for spirited drives once a month.

Just not an every weekend track car. I can beat on the Zupra and not feel guilty. And they are stupid quick on the track

I get it - it's a Chevy haha.

I would be willing to bet the Auto M2 with carbon roof will be faster than an auto Zupra around the track. Almost no one who exclusively tracks is searching for a manual car, right?

I love SavageGeese but in all honesty it does seem that, while they did a pretty good job being as impartial as possible, they came into this review already a bit biased against the M2. For example, the Scion TC comments and things like when they compared the low-end price of a Supra to the high-end price of a G87 just to have it look like less of a value (“~$54k for Supra vs. $70k for G87”) when it’s actually closer to $54k compared to $63k if you do base to base.

Good review.

Sounds like the G87 wins on practically everything you can objectively measure except for weight and rear passenger headroom.

Interesting that Jackie Ding achieved a better lap time in the G87 than this pro driver did. Jackie’s is auto, so that’s probably it.

One of these is clearly not like the other two.. Specifically, the OG M2, which has been out of production for about 5 years now. Not sure I get the point of including it.

truth about manuals on the track. possibly yes. that s58 is a monster. Even all the M2csr and new M4 GT4 are all paddle. have driven both on road courses pretty hard.

My Supra is waaaaaay down the track mod rabbit hole but i was able to keep up with a professional driver in a M2 csr this week. both were running about 430 hp he was on slicks and I was on 200tw becasue i compete in TT

And you also can't get a new Supra 3.0 for that price.

One thing I notice is, when list the lap time of all three cars , the Supra time is 1:32:72

And when doing comparison with g87, it becomes 1:33:72.

Since I just was fast forwarding, did I miss anything here?

Solid comparison. I think the real issue here is that the 6MT Supra is unobtanium. You can call every single Toyota dealership in America and they'll sell you a spot on a list for a car that hardly exists (and if the day arrives, don't forget to bring a sack of 20,000 sacrificial dollars).

As for the comparison between the G87 and F87, I'll take faster and more stable every day of the week. Sucks that the G87 is heavier, yeah. But as we've found out, it's nothing the aftermarket and a carbon roof can't fix. JackiePhD is working on it.

You're not the only one who noticed lots of differences. At the bottom of the screens it also shows session best times only 2 1/2 tenths off the Supra. But I don't really care anyway because all of us in the forums, save for a couple individuals, are not pro drivers.

Hey Guys - I'm the owner of the OG M2 that SG used in their review.

It was great meeting them and going through the process. I'm happy to say I've started to grow hair on my knuckles due to my increased T levels since being in their presence.

I reached out to see if they wanted to compare the OG to the new G87 mostly due to selfishness as I was interested in potentially picking the new one up and I'm also local in the Chicago area.

I was able to take the G87 for a quick spin and I had a few observations.

- Interior is a step up in every measurable way, but I did miss the gauge cluster in my F87 and the overall throwback interior (orange backlights, physical buttons, etc). Back seats were also smaller in the new one. I have a soft spot for older BMW's so the old school interior does something for me, but understood vast majority of people will prefer the new interior.

- Overall ride compliance and everyday livability in the new car is definitely better. It's better damped and is just a generally more comfortable ride, especially at higher speeds (although I did not take this on the highway). That said, it felt a little less frantic and exciting. Depends on what you want.

- While the N55 is an inferior engine in every way, I did appreciate the low down torque and especially the sound. I'm not someone that tracks my car so overall HP output, and power at the top end, were not primary concerns of mine.

- I much prefer the looks of the F87 but of course I am biased. New one does look better in person but the ZB doesn't work well with me on this car IMO.

Overall I appreciate the car for what it is and since it's one of, or potentially the last M car you can order from the factory with a manual, it's been on my short list. I'm also looking at a G80 and a 718 Cayman S or T.

I would have no issues loaning my car again to Jack and Mark. Jack kept me updated throughout the entire process and I never felt like they were going rogue. They were exactly as you expect in person and very accommodating.
My car was as is when I got it back with a complimentary two bucket wash from Mark. I did find a few Arby's wrappers in between the seats though and a He-Man figurine in my glovebox.

Happy to answer any questions.

You'd be surprised, I am seeing a decent amount of guys pick up manuals as their dedicated track cars. In my area alone I know of a few 6MT E9X M3s, Supras, and GT3s that are all at or even extending the limit of achievable times for street cars at my local/regional track.

I'm a DCT guy thru and thru but I think the lesson here is transmission is secondary, skilled drivers are what's more important.

It was a typo. SG mentioned the typo in his pinned comment in the video. The Supra time should have said 1.33.72.

I wonder how many people missed Savegeese's comment regarding the Supra laptime. They should have probably added an actual annotation within the video. When we're dealing with lap times every second counts...literally.

Edit: Others above mentioning same thing.

**Spoilers**
The Official Supra Lap is 1.33.72 (video shows 1:32:72)

1:33.72(Supra) vs 1:33.94 (G87) makes a big difference.

The manual/sunroof combo is also the slowest iteration of the M2 possible. The 50lb roof alone makes two tenths...

I have the I6 RWD Manual platform a few times over.

Been getting the P-Car itch but I cannot deny that the Supra with a stick might be the best value/overall effective platform if it's not just a street car.

For me, because it's mostly a street car, it's either a 981 GT4 or 997 Turbo (two totally different machines I know) or a C7 GS or Z06.

I like the simplicity of the Vette but the Porsches will never lose value so it's a massive toss up right now.

I'm keeping the rest of my fleet so this is a 1 vs. 1 deal haha

If I was consolidating, 997.2 GT3 all day.

Did you actually find and secure one? Because as far as I can tell, that car doesn't exist.
