You can compare it to a supra and say 'oh the supra is faster so its a better sports car'. I have a Supra, I find it highly unlikely that Supras are faster, neither stock for stock or mod for mod. S58 is an animal.

As much as I still want to test drive the G87, I was fortunate enough to drive a track spec G82 with ZF and I was severely disappointed. I actually felt a little depressed after driving it because I was using it as a benchmark experience for the G87 (which I was planning on getting) and immediately realised it wasn’t for me.

On the road, I’m sure it’s a nicer experience, but on track (where I wanted to use it above all), I hated it. It was slow and frustrating. To be clear, I was using it in max aggression in manual mode. The amount of times I bounced momentarily off the limiter because of the shift delay was infuriating. Admittedly, the delay is minor, but it was enough to cause frustration vs. DCT.

And I'd be livid if I bought the new M2 only to find out it gets squarely beat on the track by a Supra. My son tracks a '23 Supra (auto) and keeps telling me it has more potential than the previous SS 1LE he raced, and I always met that comment with a raised eyebrow. I guess I just assumed the new M2 would really crush it on the track, but it's looking like less expensive factory cars will either hang with it, or even beat it on the track. At the end of the day at least you're driving home in a sweet M2, so there's that.

I suspect the different painted pictures will be as varied as an art museum. I also suspect your previously owned SS 1LE will put down better lap times, but if the focus isn't the track then the G87 is in its own league between the two.

What? then you havn't watched the videos. Someone has already stated he was 5 sec faster than their Camaro SS 1LE at Watkins Glen on Supercar 3 tires. And he was on PS4S. Jackie also ran a 1:33.0 at that same spot where supra was 1.33.72. Either he was sandbagging the M2 or Auto is that much better for laptimes.

The SS 1LE has about the same HP, considerably more TQ, less weight, and a brilliant 10 speed auto. If same driver is running 5 seconds slower in a SS 1LE (that's HUGE), then there's something going on not disclosed.
