Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Please let me know what your personal thoughts are and/or why you would choose one over another. I have test-driven the 2023 M2, so I believe I have a baseline for performance, feel, etc. I previously was in conflict between a 2023 M2 vs 2024 M440i, but I hashed that out through a test drive with M2 being the winner purely for its feel and performance. I have not test-driven the 2023 M3. I am currently in the waitline for the 2023 M2. My question is rooted in wanting more performance (if applicable) and a nicer exterior, though I will be only city driving. Is the 2024 M3 going to be released soon or is there no speculation on this? In terms of performance, is the difference significant? If so, then what aspects? Will I need to test-drive the M3 to understand the performance difference? In terms of looks, what stands out to you between the cars? In terms of utility, I think M3 is the clear winner here. Do y'all think getting a 2023 M3 over a 2023 M2 is worth the price differential of $13k-$14k? Both will be fully packaged. I know this is a completely subjective questions, but hopefully the objective questions above may substantiate this answer. |

Mostly subjective but do you prefer a longer wheelbase? That’s something I have always been a little OCD about and just love the M2 length and width. I love the new grill over the full length grill.
The other aspect you might want to consider is that the M2 is all-new making it even more unique. |

Yeah I agree the front end of the M2 looks mean, but the tail end of the M3 is much nicer to me IMO. Additionally, maybe I am looking towards the M3 because of the color options as the ones currently listed for the M2 are so poor. |

At this point, get the m2, enjoy it , trade it in for an m3 a year later? Best of both world option. |

If both will be "fully packaged" expect a delta of much more than $13K. I ticked every box and got $76K for my G87, ticking every box on a G80, you're looking well into the six figures, probably a $35K delta if you're looking at individual paint.
What's the difference? Outside of looks and size? Not much. Do you prefer a four door sedan or a smaller 2 door coupe? Because at the end of the day, this isn't the big difference that the F series were. I prefer the looks and the size of the G87, if I had a need for a 4 door sedan, then the base G80 would be it (this or the Black Wing are the only 4 door, 6 speed manual, performance sedans left).

We cannot choose YOUR car for YOU. But if you really want an opinion, I suggest you look into a Prius (my first thought was a Smart, to keep with the German heritage, but I just couldnt)... |

He should post on VWVortex, AudiWorld, and Rennlist just to make sure he’s getting an unbiased opinion.

I have both cars. I think it comes down to how you’re going to use it. If you need more room then go for the M3. If not then go for the M2.
If size isn’t a factor, then the G80 isn’t worth the extra 10k+ |

2) If you need 4 doors or AWD, an M3 is an obvious choice Now, 3) I owned the F80 (2, one base, one Comp) and an F87 M2C, all 6MT. Although the F80 Comp was the more mature of the two, and better interior and options, not needing 4 doors at the time, I would choose an F87 over an F80 ANY DAY. I always said - this (F87) is what an F80/82 should have been - size wise, fun factor, everything... 4) For the looks, I liked the G80 from the beginning, including the front (I cannot stand the non-shadowline, non dark colors G22). Not so much with the G87. The rear is ridiculous. The front is like Dukec came up with it playing with his kids toys at a Croatian beach... Looks-wise, I prefer the G80. Inside, the G87 is much closer to the G80 than what F87 was to the F80... Options-wise, there is still a gap, and some lack of options (colors, 3D Camera...) are puzzling me... 5) I have never felt that the F87 M2C lacked any performance over the F80C. I never raced at the traffic lights, however, the F87 was a lot of fun during spirited driving...I'd say more than the F80C I expect that the G87 will be the same vs. the G80. The G80 is more mature, tamed, the G87 is wilder and some may say - more fun. 6) So, assuming that you (dis)like the looks on both equally, you do not need 4 doors or comfortable back seat, you do not care about colors or all the options, form my experience (I have not driven the G87), I would go with the G87, no doubt about it. |

It never grew on me and I think they're hideous. Based on this forum, I think I'm supposed to go to those forums and tell them how much I hate their cars and that only my opinion matters.
