Ah but the key is here,

"The smaller B58 engine also recently received an update, including a 48-volt mild-hybrid system."

While they may be sticking ICE for a while, that's the fate of all of them in the coming years, I'd wager.

My 2019 S3 had it too...you couldn't tell.

It seems to not be fading out for a while, and who knows if the timeline will be extended. Certainly not being eliminated in the next couple years
