Ugh, frozen...

Matte/Satin/Stealth is so 2014.

Anyone have an idea if the color selection will change for the 2024 MY?

The two additional colors recently announced will begin with July production so this will more than likely be it for MY24.

BTW, I hope I am proven wrong.

Even ignoring the upkeep, in my humble opinion they look like a rattle can job, conceal a car's lines, and have already felt played out for years.

I'm sad.
I was told few by a BMW rep at the Rolex race, we may see few more additional colors around December. But don’t hold me to it. Specially asked about IMOG, he said possibly. But who knows…

I'd never get a frozen finish, not only don't I care for them they are a PIA to maintain. F that noise.

Guess everyone has to wait until LCI. Even then I wouldn't be surprised if it's only one new color. They'll likely remove an existing color that many like and replace it with one that is not as desired. BMW lives to piss off its customers.

Does that make sense guys?
How about this - Colour palette lacking initially. Not improved by additional choices. As my friends say - they overall still suck given the choices available for the other M selections.

I'd probably upgrade to an LCI if it had just two things. A deep blue metallic paint, and Parking Assistant Plus (the 360 camera). That's all I'm missing.

But BMW doesn't want me to upgrade to another M2, they want me to buy an M3/M4. I understand the business reasons, they make sense, but it is a shame.

I like the look of matte paint but over time cars get light scratches which can be easily polished out of gloss paint, with matte paint you're stuck with every scratch.

Well, if they're trying to force my hand between an M2 and M3/M4 jokes on them, I'll buy a car from a different manufacturer altogether. How's that for business reason?

Edited to correct typos.
Maybe my background in painting makes me a little more versatile in the conversation- additional clear coat is pennies and labor on that is much less than labor on PPF.

A multistage flat paint which no one uses is the most robust.

But there are people who spend insane money on screen protectors for the iPhone. Ordering their cases and never truly using the product.

I have PPF on my Carrera 4- I won’t do it again. On my third “professionally” installed. It’s an art and most fail at installation. Porsche recently ended theirs at the factory due to poor install in a sterile factory setting.

Also- show me an Xpel PPF that protects on rockchips- the plastic isn’t ripped but the impression is made. In theory you could double or triple on a clear coat and protect the paint even better. PPF is a gimmick.

Seems to me, if one really (repeat really) wants a G87, a color will find you.

Frozen paints are worthless. Just get a normal high gloss paint and then stealth PPF.

Frozen gets old very quickly. If one plans to keep the car longer, then non-frozen colors is the way to go.

My frozen grey was $5k extra to cover in PPF and ceramic. And another $850 so far to replace damaged PPF. But keeping it clean is easy now.

However they should absolutely provide non-frozen grey or silver.

BTW wrapping it in stealth is not the same look.
