How can it be $69K but also have the carbon pack? Car is like $63K plus $10K for the package. My car was "every option" and came to $76K and change. This doesn't make any sense.

That’s a funny one ☝️ 😂
Crazy some of the effort that had to be put in to get MSRP. I literally had to do nothing to get the car for MSRP but ask.
When the HEA came in, they wanted 75k for the car but offered it to me for 68k since I was first on the allocation list.

This is such bad form. You ordered something and then decided you don’t want it, and now feel the need to profit off your change of mind? Seriously man, do a good deed and give someone the car after you are made whole. While the forums will be less interesting, you will sleep better at night. You put a lot of effort into this deal? WTF?! Come on.

On another note….. Why on earth would a dealership help facilitate this kind of nonsense?! There’s a bunch of dealer folk around these parts. Can someone speak to this and whether your shop would allow this.

I love a good ethical debate. Personally, I don't have a big problem with someone trying to flip an allocation.

I'm next on my dealer's list and some of you are lucky enough to already have your car. This is not an attractive deal for us. But, if I had just decided today that I wanted an M2 and was faced with waiting 12 months or more, I might be willing to fork over $5k to jump the line.

So, if this feels like a good deal to a particular buyer, it's a win for both parties and no one was harmed.

Is the OP under any type of obligation to offer the car at MSRP? To quote Wooderson, "it'd be a lot cooler if you did," but other than earning goodwill from internet friends, I don't see the upside to the seller. I'd imagine that the OP values $5k more than being a BimmerPost hero, and that's not unreasonable.

Where I think the OP is misguided is in seeking to be compensated for the time he spent securing the deal. I'm on the list at TWO dealers at MSRP and it didn't take me more than an hour of work. All of his "effort" doesn't seem to be worth $5k and it feels like he's just trying to justify his opportunism.

I think the OP's best pitch is "Spend $5k to cut the line." That might be a good opportunity for someone with more money than patience.

If I had to predict, I think the OP will end up taking a bath on his investment but I'm curious to see how it plays out.

Wait, does this mean I can sell my other spot on the wait list at another dealership? Hit me up, Bay Area people. I know there is a long list everywhere in the Bay.

I just got a TR M2, $67k msrp for UNDER msrp. Came off the docks this week and picked it up at the dealer this afternoon. It was a week between speaking with the dealer and picking up the car for 3% off msrp.

Not sure how much longer the over msrp is going to last, but there are deals to be had out there. Just gotta put in the work… all $5000 worth of work lol.

This is the build I want. I think I'm going to call the dealer directly, tell them I want it at msrp, plus I will be financing, adding clear bra, sealants, warranty, and maintenance. Sounds like a fair and profitable deal for the dealer. Besides, the dealer owns the allocation, not the clown who reserved it.

Please do this, you've been waiting on your allo for way too long and if it's the spec you want you should put in the 5k worth of work yourself (I wish I could make 5k with a few phone calls and an email or 2).
