Wheel & Tire Upgrade

Hello Friends,

I'm looking to get a wider tire setup and I could use some guidance. I have the stock (Non-wheel & tire package) setup of the 225f/255r. I was looking to keep the same stagger and go 255/285(maybe 265/295??). What I want to know first is, what wheel specs would I need to accommodate those sizes? All these sites are a bit convoluted in their explanations.

Secondly, do we know how wide a tire we can run before spacers are needed? Can't have these PS4S's rubbing!!

Any insight would be appreciated.

Don't know what the max tire width in the rear is, but i haven't heard of anyone running 295. In the back you have camber adjustment so you can fudge it to an extent, but you will have increased negative camber and you may not want it.

19x9 et 25 front and 19x10 et 35 will give you the most flexibility. There are wider wheel fitment and more aggressive offsets but depending on the tire size you choose those could require fender rolling or just prevent the fit. With that spec you also retain the possibility of using 3mm or 5mm spacers to dial in the fit if you need more space inside.

You can go to a 9.5 wheel in front but it would need to be et25 to give enough inner clearance.

All of this is based on my research on wheels. There may be people who can provide more insight based on their real world fits.

245/35R19 on 8.5” wheels and 255/35R19 on. 9.5” wheels
Or
245/40R19 on 8.5” wheels and 275/35R19 on. 9.5-10” wheels

Will be the easiest and safest options for xdrive and fitment.

For anything wider you will need more precise wheel offset and camber.

Checkout Misha’s video with a guy that has a purple m240i. He had 255 in front, 295 rear but he has 18 inch protrack wheels. For 295 I think you might have to go with 18 inch. I think for 19 the sweet spot might be 255 front 275 rear

I do not think there is a 255 front 275 rear combo that works with xdrive but for rear wheels drive yes.

Do you think I would have to run spacers with this setup?

Lmao. I give you an exact spec and you ask the person who gave you a vague answer what spaces you should run...

Depends on width and offset of the wheels you will find. But there are not a ton of wheels that will fit perfect the g42 without some spacer unless you you go custom made to you.

For example front flush for 8.5” should be like ET15 and rear 9.5” ET25 on non ztk.

For larger wheels you can check what IAN already provided.

[QUOTE=IanH;31597793]Don't know what the max tire width in the rear is, but i haven't heard of anyone running 295. In the back you have camber adjustment so you can fudge it to an extent, but you will have increased negative camber and you may not want it. Yeah...I'm not looking for anything too crazy. Certainly don't want to do anything crazy as far as camber goes. I just don't really know the implications with adjusting that...

The issue I'm having with this is finding a site where I can get that specific on diameter. I found wheels linked below that fall in line with a different reply but I can't seem to adjust the width of the rear wheels. I'm still a little lost in the sauce. lol. Also can't seem to find spacers smaller than 10 mm. https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Whee...=Standard+Tire

The goal is to get a little more rubber on the road and have a nicer looking fitment. I appreciate all the insight so far!!

For the wheel you posted you will likely need 10mm spacers all around I think for a flush look. They are cheap, look good and does not seem to heavy at around 22-23lbs.

For the spacer usually better to fit the wheels and than see what is missing to get the stance you want. Some like it very flush with some slight poke look and some prefer a more conservative figment. Also depends on tire size you decide to put and if you drop the car or not…

The wheels you posted are similar to what I bought but mine are satin dark anthracite compared to the one you posted are gloss black.

My wheels for next summer
Braelin BR14
Front 8.5” ET30 will run 13mm spacers
Rear 9.5” ET30 will run 10mm spacers

The rear have a nice concavity to them.

You can't get good wheels at tire rack unless you spend a lot of money.

For budget conscious wheels check out superspeed RF05RR

For premium wheels you can either get full custom wheels from VT forged or the offerings from apexwheels that fit the car. Apex has basically the exact fitment i posted avaialble.

Yeah. The were some BBS and others that were available but the out the door cost was pushin' 3k... which is my whole budget.

I'll dig into the brand of the wheel I linked a bit to make sure they're legit. I'm sure it's fine... but can't be too careful.
