So we can confirm:
- non-iDrive can see caller ID upon call waiting
- iDrive < CIP 20 can not see caller ID upon call waiting
- iDrive >= CIP 20: ????????

how? Is there a way without pressing the engine stop button 3times after you turn off the ignition?

No, just without starting the engine as the pdf states.

There's three levels:
1) radio-readiness (radio on, time/temp displayed, windows work, but no lights/warnings on dash)
2) ignition on (lights/warnings on dashboard on)
3) engine on (only when your foot is on clutch/brake)

Without your foot on clutch/brake, the car cycles through these settings in the following order upon subsuquent start/stop presses:
Off - radio readiness - ignition - radio readiness - Off - radio readiness - ignition - radio readiness - Off...

So under which of these settings, aside from Engine on, does the sunroof work?

Actually, you only need your foot on the clutch with manual trannys. In other words, you don't need to press the brake to start the car.

Yes, "brake" was to cover auto cars, which (while we're stating the obvious) don't have clutch pedals. j/k

Ok so sunroof is coming off the list. Anyone confirm whether this applies to the Homelink buttons as well?

I can tell you from my experience that the X5 requires the key in position 2 in order for the homelink to work.

Rant

Apologies to all - shittiest of days. Just quoting from personal experience. Guess I shouldn't and won't in the future. Per your suggestion bimmer4me, I have modified my avatar to the Wicked Witch (or is that Wicked Bitch?). FYI - I'm not a fan of "HUMPBACK Mountain"; not that there is anything wrong with that.

I don't think we can count on E24 to help out. From his previous message and avatar it looks like he'd rather spend his time watching "Brokeback Mountain" then give feedback to BMW; not that there is anything wrong with that.

E24, to be honest I was hoping for something more confrontational, but now you have taken the fun out of it by being nice. LOL!! Better avatar, BTW.

The outstanding items include:
1) Caller ID upon call waiting:
- non-iDrive can see caller ID upon call waiting
- iDrive < CIP 20 can not see caller ID upon call waiting
- iDrive >= CIP 20: ????????

2) Homelink button functionality when the car is in Ignition On mode (engine Off).

We've confirmed sunroof works without the engine on (in Ignition On mode).

Once these two items have been resolved, I'll post up a final version that will be sent out.
