Majority of cars without Carbon bucket seats?

Just an observation really, as they would be a must have for me personally, having sat in both seats.

I have noticed that even on here which tends to errr on the side of enthusiasts that most cars have the normal seats. Just wondered what the reason was behind your choices.

Thanks in advance guys

I could probably get away with the carbon buckets since my car is not a daily driver but I’ve driven G80s and G87s with the CF Buckets and I don’t fit well, the nut cracker between my legs is annoying especially in a 6Mt. They also cost more and the regular seats are really supportive as it is. I like the idea of CF buckets and the way they look but in every day life prefer the standard seats.

Primary reason for me not to get them was the price. Adding $9k to my build wasn't going to work. Plus, the regular seats seem more comfortable though I have heard good things on the buckets being comfy too.

In the UK, they were originally part of a £9000 option called the track pack, which gave you the seats, the roof, the interior trim and the M drivers pack. The kicker here is that the carbon roof, was standard equipment in the UK anyways, making the seats VERY expensive.

Now for the 25MY they are all separate options so can have the seats without on their own for about £4000 but the roof is no longer standard equipment.

I think for a daily driver the could get annoying, but more so with short frequent journeys with lots of in and outs.

I have yet to try one with the seats and a manual, so would Definately want to try out the combo, but I would probably go for an auto with the seats rather than a manual with the stock seats. Ideally both manual and the seats though.

Jeez, that is a far worse deal than the US option. It's nice that they split up the carbon pack and folks can get just the seats if they want to save some cash.

Same. I thought the codpiece would not go well with the manual transmission.

I fell for the "anti-hype" the first go around. There were many people on here suggesting the buckets weren't comfortable, and I like doing long road trips, so I could have taken it or left it. At the point I was buying my first M2, buckets weren't a deal breaker. Ended up buying an M2 without the buckets.

The sport seats are still light years ahead of the seats that were in my G42 M240i.

It was still a huge mistake. The buckets are comfortable. I ordered them on my M2 that should be here in a few weeks.

I completely understand why someone wouldn't want them. Getting in and out isn't as easy, but I'm young enough.

I jumped on a build that was already in the process of being built so didn’t have the option. That being said, I am not sure I would have spent the money to get them though I did go for the CF roof so wouldn’t have been as much. Like the look of the Tillet ones on the R44 build so who knows in the future…

I couldn't commit to them for 9k given I had not sat in them and was not sure I would fit.

I was on the fence, I suggest getting a ride, don’t just sit in it. I was fine sitting in the bucket, but on the 30 min ride the bucket kept my shoulders bowed in, not great for me (6 220 athletic)

The correct answer is price. They were essentially a $10,000 option when the car came out. An option that costs 16% of the entire car is hard for people to stomach, especially if the base MSRP is already pushing budgets. It was just too expensive at launch.

My legs don't fit comfortably in them. Don't really fit in the standard seat either, but at least the bottom side bolster is flexible so it works enough.
