IND | G87 M2 Painted Center Bumper Trim Install Guide

Since we've just launched our painted front bumper center trim for the G87 M2, we wanted to provide a DIY as the process is relatively simple and very straight-forward.

Tools needed:
  • Painters Tape
  • Pry Tool / Flathead Screwdriver

Step 1:
Remove the push-pins securing the bottom of the center bumper trim. Our Fall-Line Oil Cooler Guard replaces some of this hardware with torx screws. The same may be the case for those with aftermarket front lips.

Step 2:
Starting at one side, begin separating the plastic clips on the center trim insert from the tab inserts on the bumper cover. If you find pulling the clips out by hand too difficult, cover the edges of the bumper cover with painters tape and use a pry tool to help push the tabs on the clips down. Work your way around the center trim panel.

Step 3:
Before completely pulling off the center trim panel, flip the panel up and disconnect the PDC sensors. Once each side is disconnected, then you can remove the panel. A closeup of the connector is provided below so you can see the pin you'll need to pull up on in order to disconnect.

Step 4:
With the center trim panel removed, swap your PDC sensors from your original panel to the new painted version.

Step 5:
Now you're ready to reinstall the new painted center trim panel. First, reconnect the PDC sensor plugs, then simply line up the tabs and press the trim panel firmly into the bumper cover. Finish by re-securing the pins on the bottom of the center trim.

INSTALL COMPLETE:

I want to like this but I'm not a fan of how the outside meets the black and creates a harsh transition. But then again the car is full of abrupt transitions

Agree, here's a Photoshop with the ends trimmed a bit. That's is pretty much as good as it gets simply because the middle is slightly inset compared to the sides.

I do not see why not. It is a Genuine BMW part only modified by paint.

Ask them to make a V5 for you. IND-Distribution seems very receptive to our dainty little voices.

We could but then it wouldnt follow the bodyline that the lower grille has. Of course since these are painted to order we can do it in almost any style. For the sake of keeping it simple we wanted to only offer two styles on the website.

Thanks for sharing the (un)install photos. Would love to see someone make an unpainted CF version of this part to go along with the MP CF inlets also pictured here. Seems like an easy swap.

Personally, I like the V-1.

It just steps the design a bit back towards, "Conventional".

Honestly, I've had enough of BMW trying to be "daring".

I like it (V1), it makes the front end look lower, but before I pull the trigger I would like to see it in other colors (ZB puts me off any desire, no offense to the owners), and figure out how to solve the shipping/customs issue, which almost doubles the price.

Just installed V1. Enjoying the look.

FYI for instal.
My stock piece had pins on outside only, and 4 screws in-between.
Upper clips where a huge pain. Virtually impossible to depress from behind. IND’s suggestion to press down clips from the front is the way to go.

This is SO good.. I got the v1 and installed a few days ago. The new grill plus zunsport screens absolutely transforms the front of the car. I am SO glad I did it!
