Review - G87 LCI 473hp Flash by Alex@Alpine

Been feeling left out since BMW announced that the M2 LCI was getting a power bump, so I got my 2023 M2 (8AT) flashed remotely by Alex@Alpine with the factory 2025 M2 file

Horsepower is now up from 453 to 473 hp and torque went from 406 lb-ft to 443 lb-ft. The added torque is immediately noticeable from 2000 rpm. Obviously this won't bring the same type of gains as a custom tune, but truly feel that this how our cars should have come from the factory.

Alex@Alpine is a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend anyone with a 2023/2024 M2 to get this done.

Sounds awesome! Its great to hear they actually upgraded the hp/tq rather than just updating their numbers to be more accurate. Have you put it on the Dyno yet to see what the whp/tq gains are compared to the 2023 stock numbers are?

So you sent your ecu to femto to unlock it and then paid someone (yes, I know, Alex) to flash it for a measly 20hp/37tq gain?

I really don't plan on dyno-ing it since it's just a factory tune, though would be interesting to see.

It's not just marketing BS. There's an 8% increase in torque all the way through 5600 rpm. Here's a comparison to stock from TunerPro:

The map is just an original file meant for the 2025 M2. Thankfully they haven't restricted it like the files for the G80 competition or M4 CSL.

Totally get that for sure. Thanks for sharing and confirming there are real world increases with the MY2025 programming. Even more stoked to get my '25 in a few weeks!

And BMW is ok with people doing this? Also, is this just for the 8AT cars or can this be performed on 6mt's as well?

Don’t see why it wouldn’t work for 6MT’s, though manuals only got a horsepower bump. Torque stays the same.

Take this with a grain of salt (I'm just some rando on the internet) but I'm going to say no. Maybe if you were a skilled professional driver, maybe. It's a 4.4% increase and you only get the full 4.4% increase at a specific point in your RPMs. People will say they notice it, but they only notice it because they know it was done.

The two main questions I have on this is: (1) is this technically possible without an unlocked DME, and (2) what are the warranty-coverage implications for doing this flash? Seems a little too good to be true to be able to just flash the car to the 2025 ECU mapping.

Not trying to be overly-skeptical here, this is coming from a place of curious and would like to know how this gets done and what the risks could be.

2. This absolutely has the potential to void your warranty (especially if not returned to stock prior to a dealer visit). Proceed at your own risk.

How could Alex flash the stock 2025 file on your locked 2024 DME?

The issue with flashing these cars is not that the files you are loading are restricted but that the DME is locked.

Someone should tell Alex to chime in on this; it's very interesting.
