[G42M240]

I wasn't able to order the HK system when I bought my m240i. I think the standard speakers are a bit weak and have been considering the bavsound upgrade.

Has anyone done this yet?

I haven't done it to my M240i but my old F22 had the standard system and the bavsound speakers were a solid upgrade. I just did the speakers, I left the subs and amp alone.

I did the install myself and it wasn't too bad. The G42 install may be different though.

Thanks for letting me know. I'd probably just do the speakers as well. I'm not an audiophile but I think an upgrade would go a long way over the standard system.

upgraded the whole kit in my old f30 with Bavsound speakers and bimmertech amp (I understand bimmertech now does speakers) - it was a worthwhile upgrade. While not always easy to find, Focal, Eton, Hertz and Audison also do “plug and play” speakers for BMW’s. FWIW the bavsound didn’t sound as good as my Focal speakers in my old GTI - but it’s a bit of apples to oranges comparison…

Thanks for the replies. If I do keep the car long term, I think a plug and play system will be worth it over the standard audio. I really wish my dealership would have allowed me to check the HK box.

I'd don't understand why you ordered thru that dealer of they wouldn't allow the HK system. To my knowledge it hasn't been unavailable thru BMW yet or at any point...

He probably made the same mistake I did, ordered the car without the HK system and then read how bad the stock system. By the time I contacted my dealer, it was too late because the VIN was alread issued. Either that or he picked up one that the dealer already ordered or had on the lot

Bav is available yet, its under the M2 section on their site. I spoke with them already.

I ordered by car last December (arrived in April), and when I placed the order the dealership said HK was the only option that was unavailable at that time. Which I believed given my boss bought an x3 from another dealership around the same time and they told him the same thing.

Just following up to see if anyone has installed the BAVsound or Bimmertech Alpha-One underseat subs I’m their HK system. If so I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.

I purchased the bimmertech speakers and Amp but haven't had the time to install it yet. The stock system is such crap, no bass and muted highs. First i want to just swap the speakers out and hear the difference, then after that the Amp. If the bass is still lacking, the Amp has a line out for a subwoofer.

Hi - Just picked up a used M240i with the HiFi stereo and bumping this to see if anyone purchased and installed the Bavsound or Bimmetech setup or any other alternative options. Would love to get some feedback. Definitely not thrilled with the Base speakers......

I installed an amp and sub, mids/highs are factory HK. I can link the thread if youre looking to do a sub.
