In the last 5-6 laps , Lando was 1 sec. faster than MAX .
Just by the Papaya tires ...

BTW : And suddenly Ferrari was extremely fast and good for the tires (!)

The RB20 improved with the COTA upgrades (new floor) but still it's not enough ..

Impressive defense from Max in the final laps. Chances that Lando could have overhauled 5 seconds seemed very slim - maybe Lando figured he might get away with that pass, but can’t help but think he’d have been better giving the position back and trying one more time. Shoulda, coulda, woulda I know.

Lando just doesn’t seem to have the killer instinct though - turn 1 was a great example. I’m still reminded of LeClerc in 22 when he started to make unforced errors when in winning situations. Maybe Lando will mature like Charles has.

Ferrari was faster and McLaren was faster .

One thing is for sure : It's very difficult to pass MAX .

I think one of the articles I read on the F1 site said Ferrari was one of two teams to not bring upgrades here. Does my heart good that they were as competitive as they were all weekend with McClaren and RBs bringing new parts. A weak point for a long long time has been tire wear but now it seems as good as any team on the grid.

the dumb McLaren team told Lando his pass was legal. if they had told him give it back, then he could try to pass again, though I very much doubt he would have managed to pass.

the only way to pass is to get on the inside of Max but Max covered the inside every time Lando got close.

Lando however, gave Max the inside at the first corner and the rest is history.

race was very underwhelming, i enjoyed the lando vs max long battle but the climax was disappointing. F1 should’ve given lando p3 just to make the season slightly more exciting, it’s not like he didn’t deserve it and imo he was going to overtake max regardless, he had better pace and tires.
