If there was no BMW 3 Series: What would you buy?
I saw this thread on an E60 Forum, and it was pretty fun. So, I thought it might be fun and interesting on the E90 Forum as well.

i think removing the 3-series from the history line would cause some other cool models to come out, so that's what i would get

I would consider the A4 or the G35 more seriously. But, if the 3 series never came out, neither would both of those cars, since BMW invented the small sports sedan. Mabey i would just walk until i had saved enough for a 911!

If the 3-series were not around as a benchmark, many of the other cars on the market (e.g., IS350) would likely not exist in their current form.
There seem to be a lot of e90post members who "look up" to Porsches, but to me, those are entirely different cars that would never replace my e90 unless they came in 4-doors. The Cayenne has such a poor reliability rating, that I'd consider it a waste of money. I would definitely consider the FX35, because aside from its quirky egg-shaped looks, it handles and performs like a sports sedan. |

Depends what you want. Only two cars competed in my choice, and for completely different reasons. One was a Golf Gti, the other a Porsche Boxster S. All three cars, with E90 included, are completely different, but in the end the only thing that fullfiled what i needed/wanted was the BMW. Either way I will still have two cars so could have got the boxster without sacrificing practicality, or the Golf for some real throuw-about fun at a lower price, but just didnt think it was worth the annual running costs of the porsche or the waiting list for the (sub BMW) golf. The BMW answers the question, and it wont spend too much time in the garage (I hope) and wont make my pocket burn too much. I can think of other cars, eg audi/lexus/merc etc, but none of the equivalent models interest me. The only thing that tickled my fancy was the Nissan 350Z avec Rays alloys. Good car, reasonable money, performance adequate, looks not bad, just looks like a cheap CD player on the inside.
Result = BMW

If there were no 3 series I would move to a deserted island for the rest of my days and never have to work again! This car is the only thing that keeps me going in this life (and a couple of blonde chicks)
