German Xenons vs. Lexi Xenons
Has anyone noticed that with Lexus xenons the lights are almost purple from far away and when you are in the car the lights have a very definate end point that is more so blue than the hyper white of the typical xenon?
I keep seeing these strange purply-blue xenons that i think are aftermarket then I see they are on a Lexus. I know on the Audis and the Bimmers the xenons are bright and definately hyper white but seem to blend better and arent as sharp and blue in color. Has anyone else noticed this and/or can explain it to me? Thanks!!!

Yeah I think Japanese cars such as Lexus, Infiniti, and Acura tend to have much more blue/purple xenons. The color doesn't necessarily mean the light is cheaper, it's just for aesthetics.

the color you're seeing is the optics...given the same D1S bulb and ballast the coloring on the Lexus will be different from that of the BMW. The optics that BMW uses and I think that they still do, are Hella...very good quality. Not sure what the Lexus uses...possibly Denso. If i remember correctly, from a distance approx 1/4 mile or less away, the BMW optics gives off more of a purplish/blue tint to them...most manufacturers use 4300 kelvin bulbs the rest is up to the optics.
But to say that it's rice is stretching it a little. The projector lens on the S2000 is by far the most superior lighting projector I have used. The cut off it clean and crisp and the light beam spread is incredible. |

It's all about the projectors. Bulbs have very little effect, because all auto manufacturers use bulbs in the 4000k-4500k range. Up close, if you look directly into any projected xenon light with a stock bulb, you won't see any hue. The blue/purple hue is an effect produced by the projector optics and the cut-off shield. Japanese cars don't necessarily have inferior projectors, as they most likely share suppliers with American and European manufacturers. The most purplish xenons I see are from Saabs and the old Audi TT.

well my dad has a LS430 and his xenons are much cooler than E90. Better cutoff, better color, they're sweet.
there are actually several posts on this, on the better pattern, color of Lexus... |

but who cares what they look like form the outside-in. theyre lights, it should matter more what they look like from the the drivers seat. if that means i get purple lights, than gimme my purples. |

i respect that, but i won't lie, exterior looks are important to me. I would prefer Euro headlamps and Brex or PMB for looks. But then again, I have 19" wheels I'm putting on, so those arent exactly great for performance/practicality either. I think a lot of users are into the exterior looks as well, but from a lighting point of view, they both probably light up the road equally well. I dont know, I don't have stock xenons to compare. I'll try driving my car after xenons and compare to the Lexus. Thats tough competition though because the LS430 lights up the whole road really well.

My friend has a Acura Tl and the Xenon do seem to be more blue. Regardless, the angels eyes on the E90 make the xenon look much nicer.

because the blue or color xenon is not available on e90, so it's scarcity. That means ppl wants it, but bmw cannot satisfy their want. so ppl who wants is but they cannot, the only thing they can do is telling ppl what them have is the best, any others are bad, cheap, rice, etc. such as "mine is better than yours, no matter what you say, 100x better than yours!" so many "kids" here... meaning less. please go back to school to learn econ, if any of you major on econ, i feel sorry for your professor.

I rode with Hunter in his new and improved Euro Xenon equipped ride and noticed that while it shoots out nicely down the road, the Lexus lights it up that much down, PLUS the sides so much more. I've seen the adaptive feature at work, but i really don't think it helps much.
I drove my Dad's car last week. So comfy and smooth you don't even know if its on. Quote:

jap xenon looks cheaper IMO, so blue,
we have an old quote:"if somthing is done more and more than its limit, will turn out the opposit" Jap cars trying 2 prove that they r elegant with xenons, had made it so blue that it's noticeble, but in a cheap way... and i think that euro xenons r much brighter...
