New-to-me 1994 Nissan Sentra beater
So I moved away from Cali to Long Island for college. Got a nice full ride to an accredited school, figured parents would enjoy the financial break. Anyway, I lasted about a week into school without my beloved 128i (currently getting shipped over). Got tired of catching the barely scheduled shuttle to my accounting class across campus. Picked up this bad boy from Queens, drove it back to LI.
So here's the deets: Name is RJ (Rally Jumper) 1994 B13 Nissan Sentra 1.6L Limited Edition Auto though 60k miles, Clean title, Dealer plates Picked up for $400 (first saw it at $1200 on OfferUp, then $800, talked him down) Sat for 15 years, needed tune up bad, stuttered under any more than 30% throttle, would sporadically get up to 50 then stutter back down to 30 Ran injector cleaner through it, spark plugs, wires, filters, oil change, distributor cap/rotor Pros: AUTO SEATBELTS, nice alarm, she runs and I use it to make short commutes to my job, grocery runs, and on campus to accounting, sounds great cuz of an exhaust leak, two step and backfires, E Brake drifting, off roading and beater shit in general Cons: Still needs front brakes (metal on metal on driver side, installing new $50 eBay drilled/slotted, carbon ceramic setup few days), fuel filter and new tires, paint fucked, radio works but speakers blownish, alignment off, suspension fucked Have several people interested in buying, thinking I can flip it for more or at least same price, runs like a champ except the fuel filter (occasional hesitation under full load). For now, she is daily duty!

Dunno yet, will take a look. Honestly not a huge issue, fully driveable but just some hesitation under WOT.

Scary how deadly things were and how safe they are nowadays. Regardless, it is only for mostly short trips so wish me luck!

$500 for a running car. can't beat that. definitely beats public transport and being on someone else's clock !

My thoughts exactly!! And these new brakes are quiet and grip hard. Took it on a 250 mile round trip to Jersey, no problems a little vibration at 80 but went away past 85

Needs a license plate frame that reads, "My other car is a BMW"
I always thought it would be cool to be rich and have a beater with a "My other car is a ferrari" license plate and then on my Ferrari, I'd have a magnetic POWERED BY HONDA sticker or something lame |

Life is too short to drive a piece of shit like that. If anything you should invest in your safety.
Depending on the school you don't even need a car. If you need it then keep the 128 please.

Need a car, this thing is temporary til my car ships (less than week out now). It's gotten me to work, uncle in jersey, the city endless times. Easily made it's own worth back in spades.

When I was in college, I was thinking of buying a new SE-R after graduation:
https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cul...rmance-nissan/ (Well it was between the SE-R and an Integra GS-R -- instead I moved to NYC and went car free) |

when I was in college, my friend bought a car for <$500, delivered pizza over the summer, then sell it for roughly the same (though if you count insurance etc. you're not really break even, and I had to help him push his car at least once)

that was my first car! actually it was a 1993 Sentra, same engine, in white aswell. Have fond memories of it, 5 speed, beat the snot out of it, always kept going. All it ever needed after i bought it in 2000 was a new starter and battery, drove it for 3 years and put about 30k miles on it... as usual older cars have quirks, my sentra had some bad brake dive, so in emergency braking the rear was always ready to snap around.
