Decided to Get This BMW Instead...

I have been torn between an M2 and M3. I actually had multiple refundable deposits down for an M2 including #1 spot in line. But this weekend a local dealer called me with a sudden M3 allocation. I asked if he could discount it and I would lock it in that day. He ended up dropping the price $2K so I went for it. Skyscraper Gray, Red interior, 19/20 wheels, Laser Lights, and Shadowline.

I’ll be back for an M2 comp/CS if it comes in manual. Peace out for timing being! It’s been fun!

That’s a fabulous choice. Unlike the last generation, the G8x M3/M4 have really tidy handling and power delivery characteristics and there is much less need to wait for a “better” (smaller) form factor. BMW M is on top of their game right now.

Congratulations, you’ll absolutely enjoy it.

I'd be on the same boat but it's a bit out of my price range. Congrats.

Thanks all. It worked out to about $10K more than the M2 after the discount the dealer gave me. For $10k I’m getting a color combo I like much better than what the M2 color currently offers and the practicality of 4 doors (easier for weekend adventures with the kids in car seats). Otherwise the cars are pretty much the same.

Yeah, I started to do a build and tgen when I realized I was north of $100k and hadn't got through all the options, I scrapped that idea.

Yes, I went with the Comp as I didn't see it worth upgrading for only 20 hp morebthan the M2.

Have fun with it. You will certainly not regret it. I was faced with the same decision. Unfortunately, the M3 in the desired configuration was simply outside my current financial possibilities.

Amazing in Australia my M2 is costing me $130k but M3s go for $190k and M4s are $200k... Huge difference in price for Xdrive, few psi, slightly longer wheelbase and 2 extra doors!!

If the price was closer I'd consider and M3/M4 but am on the M2 train. Funny how different pricing works in different regions.

Enjoy!

the folks in Europe are also at disadvantage! if you convert from their Euro prices to USD and CAD for example you'll see how North America is luckier in terms of the car prices now in 2023. and also gas prices ?
