I called 20 dealers in the past week and have gotten 20 different answers on things. Some examples:
"Production doesn't start till march/April" "We have 13 orders in which is a 5 year wait" "We are a small dealership, have no orders in, but require a $5000 non refundable deposit just for an order and we probably won't get an allocation for a year" "We have 2 orders in but are charging $2500 over MSRP" "We have 2 orders in and are charging a $1500 doc fee" "We have 16 orders in, which should be a 6month wait" "The M2 just added 2 new colors today, did you see those?" Lol wtf! "We have orders in but won't tell you how many and we don't want to take your order, we will call you when we get an allocation" "We haven't had an M2 allocation in 4 years" "We have over 20 orders in, good luck elsewhere" "We are a small dealership and only way we will get an allocation for an M2 is to trade, but I'm sure no dealers will want to give up an M2 allocation" "The M2 is only going to be made for 2 years before discontinued forever" I don't know what to believe, but I need to get an official order in soon. |

Asked last year to be on any kind of list. I'm first at my dealer and already have an order In the bank. Guaranteed MSRP and was told to expect the car around April to May. I see lots of others with near the same situation. |

The truth is, no one knows anything for sure. Everything is speculation. No one knows how many allocations they'll get, or when they will get them, or when they will be built. Every dealership and every client will have their own "feelings" about the situation, but it is all speculation until someone has an allocation with a build date on it. My advice is to get in an order now if you want one. Get a printed build sheet so you know you are in the order bank. If you don't have a build sheet with your name on it then you don't have an order in.

I don’t even know why I’m even on here looking. I have the first allocation but can’t get built until March due to carbon package 😆😆

Ha! I seriously wish it would become a reality, but absolutely no chance of it happening. I have got a long list of individual colors that I would gladly throw money at in order to acquire it. Last edited by T_U_D; 12-06-2022 at 03:09 PM.. |

I have colors selected that I am almost certain I would not see a duplicate of within the same city that I reside. That is by far the importance of Individual paint, the exclusivity. |

But in my area everyone in the BMW groups have M3/4. I have seen 2 M2s and one M240 and a handful of M340s so I don't think I need to worry too much. But with my choice being TR I think I still might be safe in a world of black grey and white lol |

Fixed it for you. What annoys me is repeatedly seeing the same colors at literally every red light. You basically stated those colors above. |

Truth is, this car would be my first flashy color car. I am going TR if I can't get Individual (I am far on the order list).

It’s actually quite laughable if you think about it.F87 owners wait years for individual to be offered and it never is.Then last year the Leipzig plant is finally able to do individual paint but M2 production has been moved to Mexico where individual paint is not offered. There is obviously quite a bit of demand for it so hopefully they get there act together and eventually offer it.

My dream is that they figure out how to give the US a steel roof like just about everywhere else.

I'm there with both of you and feel exactly the same way. I'm guessing BMW felt it was giving us a lively color with ZB but I can't help but think of toothpaste every time I see it. TR is the only fun color.

I am not 100% certain, but given that the roof is a major structural component, I would suspect that each type of roof offering has to be crashed tested multiple times in various scenarios in order to receive U.S. DOT certification. BMW NA knows that the steel roof would not be all that desirable as history has proven so in the past. Therefore why waste the money? Just a thought. Last edited by T_U_D; 12-06-2022 at 07:19 PM.. |
