I was pretty disappointed by the HK in this vehicle. It lacked any real dynamics and the bass was muddy. Significantly inferior to the B&O in the RS3 that was replaced by this car. It got to the stage where I really could not muster enthusiasm for my favourite tracks.
Anyhow it was bad enough that I had all speakers replaced with Stegs and added an in line Match 10 channel amp/sound processor. Not a cheap option

It is like night and day. The sound is now superb. I am a happy man. Crisp, dynamic, enjoyable

Settings

For those of you that have "dialed in" the settings, can you share what you settings are? I realize that the settings are subjective, but, if nothing else, they can be a really good starting point.

Thanks in advance.

My initial impression was that the sound system was pretty decent in the g87… but now I find myself turning off my sound system most of the time not only because I rather listen to the exhaust/fake exhaust sounds but mostly because I find the sound quality somewhat poor and the music I enjoy listening to in my Bose headphones sound that horrible I rather turn it off…. I’m hoping the coding to B&O will make a big difference

Please let us know what you think after you code it. I am looking to do the same thing. Thanks.

Car is here finally, and I was completely spoiled by my full Bimmertech Alpha 1 system in my F87.

The HKs are only ok at best, and I cannot wait to tear them out for speakers, subs and amp from Bimmertech again.

Ah yeah... my Bimmertech Alpha One setup should very likely ship next week! I cannot WAIT to make this change, as the OEM system is really subpar by comparison.

Are you planning on making a video of the install? I’m curious about this improvement as well!

Absolutely and can also source Bimmertech gear for you too.

Just got the car and the HK system is really disappointing coming from a B&O system in an Audi TTS... You can kinda dial it in on low volume, but there is just no power once you turn it up. In the Audi you could feel the bass in your chest, but here it just dies.
Did anyone try pairing an aftermarket amp with stock speakers? I feel like changing just the speakers won't do wonders, there is just a lack of power...

My bimmertech Alpha One speakers just shipped, and the Amp will be in a few weeks. Absolutely worth the upgrade.

Drove the Audi today again and now I'm definitely going with an amp upgrade. After some research Audi has almost double the power and you can feel it.

I'm now looking into the Match Up 10 or the Alpha One amp. Both seem to be the same style of plug and play with the HK system, the price difference is around 300€ here in Germany in favour of the Match. The power output also seems to be very similar, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same amp inside.

The Bimmertech amp is excellent and I have installed quite a few of them.

Is just getting the Bimmertech amp alone a big enough improvement in sound?

Absolutely yes and improves the existing OEM speakers due to better power and configuration of the amp. Now if you are fully stock, I would start with speakers and subs, then amp if budget constrained. All at once is best, but the upgrades absolutely will make a difference.

I can help if you needed.

So you would say that speakers+subs off the base amp is a bigger upgrade than base speakers with an upgraded amp? I can go either way, just prefer something for more clarity/intensity and see if that holds me over before doing the 2nd half.

If I was going to do one of the two, I would do speakers and subs first. I feel they both are worth it, but immediate bang for the buck is in speakers and subs.

Let me know if I can help.

I was actually surprised how good it sounds in my M2 after I tweaked the settings a little bit. But I get disability from the VA for hearing loss lol, so I may not be a good judge.

Well done and highly recommended! They are currently running their BF sales at 10% off, which I can match year round.

Did you have to turn off the ASD? I have read in some forums if you dont the turn signal and parking sensor sounds are too loud.
