Ah, digging into this further, this looks to be different between Digital Key (NFC) and Digital Key Plus (UWB).

With the various changes and retractions around digital keys this year, I am not actually sure what the G87 has or how it works. The material out there is hella confusing.

Any insiders in the audience willing to untangle this for me?

Check the last page, where both the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are listed.

It's possible they deprecated the NFC option, which would kind of suck.

Oh I think maybe I was reading the digital key PLUS release info. I didn't realize there were different versions until just now.

All so confusing. I'll try it with my Pixel 7 again but nothing happened the first time I tried it.

A lot of people were trying to get Digital Key working, and IIRC it turned out BMW had simply disabled it because reasons. Yay recalls.

I thought it was fixed in March, but I'm not sure if that was delivered OTA or required a service visit or what. Nor am I actually sure it is, ya know, actually FIXED.

So I don't know what the present state is, but I THOUGHT that the G87 was supposed to support plain old Digital Key, which worked with most NFC smartphones.

As best I can tell, BMW says all cars made after Nov 22 can also support Digital Key Plus, so production G87s should work? No idea about early demo cars.

Well let's just say that BMW has been wrong before. Do you remember the clusterfuck with the remote start on G80/2 MT? You just copy and paste info without actual knowledge of what is going on. I am still waiting for your next YT video post. lol. FYI I have upped my post count since we talked last time and have provided some useful info without fumbling the ball

I have only set up one M2 so far. Digital key worked flawlessly with the card and phone. it was an iPhone.

I did recently set up Digital Key in an iDrive 8 330 with Android and it also worked flawlessly.
