It seems like this a more advanced coding system than Bmercode. Is that correct?
Something in between bimmercode and ESYS if I’m understanding correctly?

For example I hit M2 on, and the cando box sniffs that signal, and sends an additional command to switch to sport screens. Coding can't do that.

Ok so certainly more capabilities. Does it then mean you can do everything bimmercode does PLUS more? I.e. would you buy both bimmercode and CanDo?
Sorry if silly questions: getting ready for my M2 delivery in around 8 weeks and trying to learn what I can before the.

CanDo is almost like hitting the record button on all of the manual button presses and screen taps required (some, every time you get in the car) to get it all configured the way you want. It's perfect, it's automatic, every time. Bimmercode is kind of similar, but goes beyond in some areas that are out of reach (not CanBus configurable)
Looking forward to getting mine when I get the car and really hoping it works right away with iDrive 8.5 Simple answer - you should get both.

Here are a couple of examples of use, you can extrapolate and see if its capabilities might meet your needs (BMW DIY Guy don't mean to hijack your thread but it's becoming the de facto canDO+ thread :-) |

Just posted this for anyone curious about the CAN sniffing tools that are part of canDO+, and how you can extend functionality on your own for any discoveries not already part of the database for your car:

The latest build 1.7 is up, plus Kies has a whole series of new videos up for this too, which is so cool!
Has anyone built out like a "best in class" style list of best functions for this yet? I am still very much in love with the M2 on/off invoking the M screens, and am spoiled now without it. I would love to see what magic folks have come up with for this as I am sure there is a ton I haven't even thougth of for it.

Can you do if/then statements? Specifically, if I am in Track mode and I hit "vol +" can I make it increment traction control? or if I am in track mode and I hit the microphone button nothing happens? (several times on the track I hit the microphone button in error with the side of my hand and it is real distracting having the car talk to you when you are going 130 mph)

As for suppressing the car talking to you, that sounds unlikely. We can augment functionality, and disable some only if the car allows through options in the menu, and there doesn't seem to be a way to disable per the manual. I did find this though: "Adjusting the volume Turn the volume button during the voice guidance until the desired volume is set. The volume remains constant even if the volume of other audio sources is changed." |
