With 525 hp the AT will be different from what is offered for current G87. It should be the same G80/G82 are using that costs 4k compare to MT for those cars.

Hoping this is the CSL and they release a CS later with AWD ala M4.

But not going to happen.

Aren't those 4k for the Comp in general? So you could still say the AT is a no-cost option and the engine tune is 4k...

The other way. I say AT is 4k and tune is no cost for BMW . Its just software.
That tune is for BMW Marketing.

It needs ///M-xDrive for that kind of power

To get the power down anyway

Wait, are you saying that the ZF8 in the G87 is somehow different than the ZF8 in the G80/82 and that the 80/82 costs $4K more?
I'm trying to see the logic here.

Going to take a guess at it being no more manual transmission option.

The only reason to get this car is exclusivity. It would become a garage queen. At the price level they will probably want when you add in the ADM you will be knocking on Porsche dollars.

ZF8 has different transmissions based on power and torque
They are named as 8HPxx where xx can be 45,50,55,65,70,90,etc
.xx is related to Torque and Power
For example ZF 8HP65 is an 8 speed ZF rated to 650 Nm and ZF 8HP70 is an 8 speed ZF rated to 700 Nm
G87M2 is rated to 460bhp/405 lb-ft (550 Nm) while G80M3 is rated to 503bhp/479 lb-ft (650 Nm)

Thanks for the explanation!

That raises a question about the 2025 M2 then, with the AT version now having 443 lb-ft (600Nm) of torque I would assume that means if they were using the 8HP55 version before they would now have to switch to the 8HP65, which I would presume is what the M3/4 use?

Correct
I assume M3/M4 are using 8HP70.
