Why EVs Are Infinitely Better Than Fuel-Powered Cars
this will rile some of you up ...don't kill the messanger :flamesuit
https://www.topspeed.com/why-electri...-powered-cars/ as someone who is lucky enough to have multiple vehicles currently and many fun cars throughout my years, I will say my Model 3 Performance has been the best daily driver I have ever owned and has ruined my perecption of what a car is supposed to do when you hit the gas pedal...the instant acceleration never gets old and I don't miss putting $75 in gas every week either. |

I didn't read the link but it's a no-brainer and only retrogrouches can't accept that. If they haven't already, they will for sure. Have you looked in an ICE engine bay lately? It's a freaking mess w all those hoses and thousands of working parts all waiting to leak and break down, and it's something crazy like 10% efficiency vs 90% efficiency for EVs (don't quote me exactly, but the ICE is grossly inefficient). What else is there to say?

Not gonna feed the troll here. All I'll say is that EVs are indeed superior for the majority of uses for the majority of people; but much like a smart watch vs a Rolex, there will always be a desire and demand for cars that are more mechanical and tactile in nature. Such cars shouldn't be outlawed from continuing to be produced. That's what irks me.

Love my ‘22 Plaid, really starting to dislike my X5M, another $3,800 today…..but it’s got 40k miles…..barf. Freakin engine plastics (tubes and such) are made of paper mache. 12 month total is $10,400, glad BMW picked up half. Never another ICE. Our Mercedes trans is going too…..grrrrr.

From the article:

Though I really don't fancy any of these electric cars when they're on fire, it's not like ICE cars never catch fire... |

I regularly read reports from people who try to drive their EV long distance or tow something are end up incredibly frustrated. One F150 owner recently abandoned his truck on a long trip. I suppose you could call it an adventure, but the reality is that the charging infrastructure is not yet sufficient for many potential EV users. For others, their use is well defined and they know of accessible, available and working chargers in their driving area.
If I had tons of money to spend on a toy, I would try one out. I’d spend extra on a high voltage home charger and could plan so my use would be limited to reasonably local drives. I think it could be fun to nerd out on the consumption data, regenerative braking, etc. And I wound enjoy the performance though using it reduces range. Insurance is another surprise for many. It’s often much higher than for a gas engine car. I will wait though I would consider a hybrid in my next car purchase in a couple of years. I think a lot of development is going on as other car makers try to move towards Tesla’s level. |

Yeah, I know what you mean. Plenty electrical systems that can result in fires. Even so, something about better the devil you know with sitting on top of a box of petrol/diesel vs some sort of weird lithium incendiary device.

You say it's neophobia but I say it's more like Dunning-Kruger on the part of the greenies.

Me? I cannot afford one, nor do I want one used, I'll admit I do not want to give a cent to Elon because I disagree with anything he spews out, PHEV would work far better in my sitaution, it doesn't make me uneducated, nor neophobic, these things are not related, they are completely independent factors in someone making a big financial choice. Frankly, I want an EV less because of the narrow minded superiority complex of the EV owners have shown. What happened to agree to disagree?
