Positives for the G87 from the review, compared to the Z and Supra:
- largest interior space - best visibility - latest tech - most well-equipped - best sound (exhaust and intake) - most grip Negatives: - heavy - expensive - ugly (obviously subjective) - not any faster despite the price tag - worst/most rubbery shifter Both reviewers ending up rating the G87 last place for their personal preference.

Yeah... that was difficult to watch IMO. They are very biased against the M2 and can't stop talking about the Supra's shifter. It's like that shifter alone made the Supra a better car lol. He is the first reviewer who would even consider the Nissan Z of the 3. And they basically just "drifted" the RWD manual cars in rainy weather and judged the cars from that.

The M2 is faster. They could barely drive those cars in the rain.

At least they admitted to not picking the objectively best car out of the 3. Looks and shifter feel heavily weighed into their equation and it was obvious Yuri loves the look of the Z and Jakub loves the look of the Supra while both (to no surprise) love the shifter of the Supra .
Imo, the Supra has the best silhouette but I don’t like some of the design details (sea monster vibes). The Z has a decent silhouette and some nice design details (really digging the head lights and retro tail lights but not really feeling the squared off grill). |

Testing 400hp RWD cars in the rain is not a good idea.
I’m sure there’s a Carwow video on the way that’ll show the true straight-line performance delta between these cars. I own one and have formed my own opinion and am no longer influenced by these reviews. (I watch for entertainment value.) My take is the Supra is a great car if you know you’re giving it back in a week. Otherwise, the compromises are significant. The M2 provides a meaningfully better ownership experience. It seems leaning on subjective factors gives an out for those who don’t like the looks to credibly choose something else that is otherwise objectively inferior. The fact that they couldn’t reach consensus on practically anything confirms that you should absolutely make up your own mind based on actual firsthand experience. |

If you want objective reviews, watch savagegeese. They are one of the few good car review channels.
Saying the M2 isn't faster than the Z or Supra is laughable. Like legitimately insane. The fact that the Z is even compared (let alone the fact that is was Yuri's preference...) is embarrassing. The Z is a certified nissan turd inside and out. Last edited by Bungus; 05-10-2023 at 09:44 AM.. |

When I was kid I was big into nissan. My 1st car was Sentra. I had a 3.5 v6 Altima and was one of the 1st people to get the 350z in the US. It was cool for a kid but there is no way I'm going back to Nissan unless its a GTR.

After hundreds of pages of threads, I wish bmw just fixed the manual feel and made the car 3650 lbs for $72k start. Yah it would have been more expensive but, with CTRs going for mid 40s, acura going for low 50s, I’m sure the price premium would have been accepted with standard forge wheels, better manual parts like Supra, lighter frame pieces. Feel more nimble, etc. but then the bean counters would have yelled because it would be way better than the m4.

It's just a younger demographic that they make their vids for.
They grew up on Fast&furious. Cars like the Z are good, but very much sub-par and uncompetitive. The fact that the one host is enamored with the Z tells a story. |

For people not wanting to sit through the 20+ minutes, the final verdict was that jakub picked the supra as the one he'd take home, and yuri picked the Z.
Jakub also said he'd take the old m2c over all 3 of these.

As a prospective owner whose G87 is waiting for transport at the factory, I am not happy with these reviews (TH, SG, now Straight Pipes) either. G87 excels in many objective areas but ends up getting rated lower by influencers and I want to challenge them on some of their points and conclusions.
That being said, what concerns me is that no reviewer so far (other than the launch event and BMW enthusiasts like Joe Achilles or BMW Blog) has been blown away by the experience. When G80 came out, despite the controversial front-end design, everyone unequivocally praised the car and put it top of its class. These same reviewers were blown away by the likes of Type R or 4 BW. Like those cars were special in a way the G87 is not to them. Maybe it is the expectations they had before driving the car. Type R perhaps exceeded expectations despite the inherent fwd disadvantage whereas G87 did not live up to their expectation for the smallest/lightest full M car. Either way, it is disappointing to hear none of these Youtubers, who drive tens of cars every year, want to take the G87 home when compared to other options.

I previously owned a '07 350Z and '12 370Z and really like the look of the new Z. On paper it all sounds good, but I just can't find the value at $49,900 for the Performance trim. The Sport trim is arguably a better deal but it's missing too many features to be taken seriously. I'd consider the Supra over the M2 if I could stomach the appearance.
