I believe it is Recaro but bankruptcy doesn’t always mean a business is closing up shop. Even if it results in closing & liquidation of their assets that process takes a while so carbon bucket buyers should be in the clear for now… hopefully.
If they do go under I wonder how it will affect the value of their seats, if at all. I’m sure BMW could make the seats themselves or find another mfgr but who knows if they’d be better or worse than the Recaro buckets. Another thing to consider is how closure might impact getting spare parts and support of that nature. |

highly doubt this will have any impact on production. im not up to snuff on my german law but unless something is seriously wrong its likely to just be resold through an auction process and hopefully someone smarter can find a way to make a $150MM topline co not go belly up margins probably suck but BBS (who has ONCE AGAIN filed BK today) has filed BK like four years ago too.

Typically the worst thing to happen is an equity fund take a public company private.
That is what happened to Recarro (seat manufacturer) that licenses the name from the larger company which is fine. But the BMW M developer is the manufacturer and design of the Carbon Buckets and new M Sport Seat. This information is on the BMW-M.com website.

Our seats are by Recaro. The bankruptcy does not mean they are closing shop though.

This. BBS has filed four times, I believe. Most likely all Recaro is doing is reorganizing debt. |

I've read multiple times that they are made in house (said by BMW themselves I believe) and they don't really resemble the Recaro's. Similar, but enough difference to believe they are just similar shape and not the same seats Not being a dick, genuinely asking

I imagine BMW does supply the leather and cover the seat shells, but I doubt they make their own seats.
