How hard will it be to get a hold of the new M2 CS?
I’m considering getting an M2, but with the CS model around the corner, I might wait. This would be my first BMW and my first new car in general, so I’m curious—would it be easy to secure one with a deposit and getting on a list, or do I need to have an established relationship with a BMW dealer?
Also, are there any idea on what it will cost and what kind of options would be available? I’m assuming it would come standard with CF roof and buckets. |

Some dealerships may already have a waitlist so it may be a good idea to ask. I wouldn’t be surprised if the price is around $100k.

I’m also #3 at two dealers & they each said they’ll be getting one. Also, the car may be pre specified so unsure of color combinations, options etc….So, not thrilled about that however Ive got a place in line for now and can always pass…

When I started the process of getting an allocation for my 2024 M2 in early 2023, my local dealers already had people on the CS waiting lists. I don't know how many will be sold here locally but I hope to be able to see one.

Markup depends on the dealer. I saw an M4 CSL for 160 and some change when they came out.
My dealer in Austin has a no markup policy "even on special models". I'm sure we'll see some dealers listing theirs for 150k. |

I think the probability of getting on the list and getting one are different.
My preferred dealer is East Bay BMW in Pleasanton, CA. They already have a list, so you could get on the list and chances are you would never see a car. It's not like dealers are going to get more than a couple. We are into 3 months of production for the MY25 M2 and some dealers have only gotten a single allocation. You might want to look around and try to find a dealer in the sticks to get on the list. The CS and xDrive don't appeal to me because they are auto.

"The list" should be treated just like a Rolex list. Just because you're on it doesn't mean you're ever getting one.

TLDR - Pay highest ADM and you will receive. MSRP?! If you are asking now, it's too late.
In my experience "the list" for Porsche and BMW works like this... Whoever has the highest MSRP build (willing to pay ADM if applicable) gets an allocation first.. You want a special car at MSRP? Think 3 years ahead, find an MSRP only dealer, get them to make a list for you, give them a $2- $5k deposit, configure the car as soon as it's available on the website, send code to sales guy (so they know how much they will make) and pray yours is the highest MSRP. |

Wait and pick one up gently one used in a few years. Getting on lists, putting down deposits, hoping the dealer doesn't screw you over when it finally arrives, etc., is for the birds. I did that twice in my youth for a speciality, limited-production performance car, never again. Imo, it's not going to be noticeably more "special" than the standard M2 to 1. Justify jumping through hoops to get one & 2. The likely significant price over a standard M2.

With the XDrive right on the heels, it kinda takes the wind out of the sails a little bit from the CS. That said, it is absolutely going to be noticeably more “special” over the standard M2. It will not disappoint. Factory HP+TQ alone will be huge. Weight loss, dialed suspension. Wonder how many seconds drop on the Nur will they get. I’m sure it’ll have the Li battery, hood and other lightweight stuff.

Unfortunately, stock performance has gotten so high in the standard models of performance cars, the difference between the base & hi-po variants is so minimal, yet manufacturers are drastically increasing price on the higher models. Simple example is the current Corvette. A fully-optioned Z06 is almost $90k more than a fully-optioned Stingray, yet the performance differences between the two are nearly nothing. Same will be true of the CS. |
