2023 M240i Coilover
I cant seem to find any coilovers that are available for our cars. Specifically for the M240s with the adaptive M suspension (EDC) as I want to keep that option.
Anyone find something that i just missed? |

I think your only option are the HAS kits for now. it's basically the threaded height adjustment added onto your stock spring perch with lowering springs. maybe some kits come with a different body but I'm not sure

KW is actually testing a DCC solution for the G42 platform

I don’t understand… if u want to keep the damper can’t you just change the spring? I see lots of lowering springs etc out there. IMO the stock springs are pretty soft and the compression damping too excessive. Strange combo.

What I want is a lowered car while still keeping the dampening controls. All I’ve seen is springs that have a dampening delete. |

Did you get in contact with KW ? I have not found any relevant information on this , only that there are V1 , V2 and V3 variants of KW compatible with the G42 without EDC . I've been searching for some time for a good option , i've confirmed with Bilstein that there are EVO SE compatible coilovers but i'm somewhat skeptical as most bilstein reviews seem to point to the same consensus - the car becomes much stiffer and bottoms out easily on them. If only Ohnlinks R&T would be EDC compatibile - that would've been a dream. |

As you, I'm quite sceptical with Bilstein stuff. It's not the product I'm in at the moment. Unfortunately, Öhlins only do coilovers for car without adaptative suspension. You will need a cancellation kit! Life is not easy

Nice - then i'm really looking forward to the KW DDC coilover release as that will probably be the route i will chose to go with . For Bilsteins , i'm mostly skeptical because most customer reviews say that while it does improve the driving dynamic on perfect tarmac , potholes become traumatic events and unfortunately we have a lot of them in my city. Also , F-chassis cars that had Bilsteins became very stiff. Yep - Ohlins would've been the no-brainer option if you wanted the best quality coilover and if it was factory EDC compatible. |

Yeah… I think they are just looking for lowering springs. Check out like autoid or others. I see a bunch available. That being said after doing a deep dive into the stock suspension, I 100% wouldn’t. The stock car has giant bump stops. seems like we really only have like 2” of travel before they engage. ?BMW was trying to be clever. Super soft springs so comfort while cruising, then good body control when the car leans and sits on the bump stops. Problem is when you need a bunch of suspension travel, like a speed bump, there will be discomfort. Putting on lowering springs will take out a chunk of the limited (pre bump stop) suspension travel we have. I’d expect the car to ride really poorly

Sure lowering springs on OEM strut is good looking a cheep, but the wear of the strut increases with them.
The best solution is to go for sport strut + springs or even better: a coilover system I experienced both on my E82 and KW coilovers were way better than OEM strut + Eibach springs (law of dampening were better engineered, less body roll, easy to set up, etc...).. As I enjoyed them on the E82, on the F21, I directly went to the KW coilovers route. They were far better than OEM suspension (less bouncy, more rigid but more comfortable too)! For the G42, I really hope KW will find someone to set their DDC up! That's the only one I haven't tested yet in their "street" products!

BMW makes a height adjustable kit, AutoID used to list it but I see its not there anymore apparently if you have BMW install it your suspension warranty is in tact. It was like 1800 though plus cost to install at a dealer would assume atleast another 600+. So you would have to see if that cost outweighs just buying $250 springs and the chance that 20-30k down the road you have to replace the shocks.

Billstein Evo SE
Coming Thursday I will have Evo SE Coilover kit installed on my M240i. I will post the results and driving experience.
I have M suspension with EDC and Eibach springs at the moment. For daily driving its good but when you start stepping up the pace in the curves the car feels like $hit. Much too heavy for the dampers. I also changed the standard Pirelli's to Michelins. Hope to get a much better ride Thursday. |

might be some cross platform stuff maybe 340 kit or something. I'm sure there are a lot of parts that are compatible just need a car to test them on.

Yes, its the same as G20 coilover.
https://www.extreme-carstyling.nl/nl...niversal=false Good thing is that you can keep the EDC with this kit. Its not cheap but I hope its worth it. |

The EVO SE coilovers are compatible with both the G20 and the G42 - they just don't have the compatibility list updated to reflect that , i've also confirmed this with some suppliers - like Evolve Automotive for example. This part number - 49-305135 - in case someone else is searching. |
