Struggling selecting trim
Going to put deposit on 2025 M240i tomorrow. Thunder knight Metallic with Cognac sensatec. One of the reason I waited for 2025 was I heard carbon fiber would be an option (also figured may as well weight for idrive 8.5). But, once the configurator came out, $800 for cf!?! I’m leaning towards that is crazy for a couple pieces of trim. Not a fan of the polished aluminum base trim. So I guess I’m down to $150 for aluminum rhombicide anthracite or the ash blu gray open pore fine wood trim for $350.
I was leaning towards the wood. It’s mostly gray. If any blue it’s very subtle. I think the aluminum is a little more sporty and I do think of the car as more sport than luxury so could also talk myself that way. Also $200 cheaper. Any thoughts/opinions? |

Wood? It’s not a Jaguar.
If you are convinced that’s what you want, make sure you see it first. They had a wood option on the F30s at one point and the colour was a mile of the configurator images. That said, 800 bucks on a 50k car to get exactly what you want and what you will be looking at every day is a regret I wouldn’t want. |

I know you already made your choice (and I think it was the right one), but the wood trim in the '23/24 4-series looks cheap and fake. Even my wife who knows little to nothing about cars commented on the fake wood in our 4 series rental and said it looks cheap and terrible. I'm not sure it's any better in the '25 update.
