Coding with bimmercode
Coding MY24 ID8 m240i and found that:
ASS not works through shown successful. No instrument cluster options so No alpine or M240i logo. B&W works, turn signal flash 5 times works. set default drive to sport works. Haven't mess with advance options yet. |

Sounds about right. On the support page for the car it seems like they mix in features that I'm guess are supported by the G87 m2, but there's quite a few features that are missing when you actually load the car up in the app. I bit the bullet on bimmercode on black friday since there was a sale, but I'm mainly holding out that more features will become available at some point.
I think I heard some people forcing some additional coding options by switching to the G20 m240 and getting certain extra features, but I didn't feel like screwing around too much with that myself. A lot of people were doing this prior to the G42/87 platform being official supported by bimmercode. I've coded out the active sound design (ASD) and a couple of quality of life features related to parking mode cam limits, and made the chirp on the car quieter. I also coded it to remember what driving mode I last used, which is primarily sport individual. You can also mess around with the side mirrors angle when you reverse, and set some sound options to other cars. I think if you have a G42 m240 you should wait a while on bimmer code, unless some of the above options sound attractive to you, as the options are kind of limited at the moment. Also everytime you take a OTA update on iDrive all your settings will get cleared out. |

yes, I forgot that I also coded for parking mirror tile to 80%.
As for ASD, there's an option in idrive that I do hear difference between ON and OFF but I'm not sure is it the same thing as ASD. |

I’ve never had a problem with Bluetooth and it allows you to use a phone. They do recommend you shut off all other BT connections on your phone and disconnect it from iDrive. This is a little bit of a pain.
USB connection SHOULD be less prone to interference, but you have to bring in a laptop. That may come with its own issues. |

Anti dazzle headlights Default drive mode set to eco Rolls Royce sounds Attached is my full list. I log it in an app so I remember what I had coded when it comes time to recode due to an iDrive update. I also coded 200mph to display in the speedometer |

The only setting I really want is the AutoStartStop disabled.
Also, as johnskiller mentioned, is there a difference between ASD and the iDrive iconic sound on/off? "As for ASD, there's an option in idrive that I do hear difference between ON and OFF but I'm not sure is it the same thing as ASD." |

I used to not care about ASS but lately I’ve been thinking about the health of my starter. I’ve been manually disabling it lately if I know I’ll stop more than a handful of times. I may pick up one of those disabler units, if I can find one cheap, well, because I’m cheap.

This one seems same as first, but it only works with cars that has ASS button and install to the center console. about 30 USD.
I may try this when I add M1/M2 buttons that also need to add a module in center console. |

For those who turned on B&W, is there a way to keep the option coded, but turn it off/not use it all the time? For some music it’s ok, but for other types, like vocals it sounds muffled and I don’t like any of the selections and want it “off”. Or is ‘Studio’ basically having the settings shut off? May even restore it.

Is there a way to disable the screen from displaying the drive mode you are changing into? Or at least shorten the time it is shown? I find it kind of annoying when I do change modes.

It doesn’t seem to allow any way to turn off the profiles or select none. There are the four choices and one is always selected. Seems stupid to always have to apply one of the four choices…this is probably why it is coded off by default.

For anyone still dealing with ASS - Disable ASS and active ASS memory. I've got ID8, and have had ASS disabled since the day I got the car through all the software updates. I'm in Aus so maybe the car is set up a little differently. |
