Stage 1 road noise reduction - easy DIY

Ok yall, if you haven't seen my other SoundSkins series, I have started a new set for my G87 M2. I am a big fan of Soundskins and their products and have done all many cars in this setup. The short version is road noise sucks, with other cars, tire hiss, weather and more.

This is part 1 of a 2 part series, and also will have a comparison video once done, showing the differences this makes. In my E53 X5, full stage 3 was a -10 decibel change (that's 50% noise reduction) and my F87 was -9db. Road hiss was way down, stereo much much clearer and cleaner, and no real loss of exhaust tone.

I couldn't wait to get started on my G87 with this, and it's making a difference already.

Any work on dynamat or similar to deaden the car? (I didn’t watch the video yet)
I did this work professionally for many years. It’s a two-part deal. Deadening the metal, then applying the sound absorbing foam. Both go together. And there’s is never enough stock tar used. But, things can get heavy quick. Worth it to me.

I haven't worked with dynamite, though I hear it's a similar product. I am really impressed with their products, and has made a huge difference

Nice vid, I have somewhat did sound deadening on all my cars but on couple of em the trims started making noise or was never too perfectly fit (refer factory perfect). Could you shed some light in this case? And what other area do you think can be done for even lesser road noise?

My M2 is surprisingly quiet. I drive 3.5-4 hours one way with the cruise set at 84 mph. No issues with road noise. Now my Z06 with full sound deadening is still ~85 decibels. Long trips in the Z can be very tiring due to the noise. The M2 is wonderful.

M2 is lows of low 70s to highs of 80 in typical freeway from my measurements. Average is about 75

Nice job, but I'm not sure how I feel about making the car quieter than it already is. Lol. Tire noise is my biggest complaint and I haven't seen a solution for that.

Tire noise can be helped by applying Dynamat or similar + the foam to the inside rear wheel wells and footwell areas. But be prepared for a lot of work and taking a lot of stuff apart.
I do this to every car I own and it’s awesome. Not sure if I’ll need to do it to the M2 as I don’t own one yet. My guess is I probably will.

It's not that bad, and walk through the entire cabin bowl, out later today
