Anyone else’s Spotify app not working after updating? It’s just grayed out and I can no longer open it. I use the Spotify app instead of Carplay because the audio quality is better in the in-car Spotify app.

I don't even have the app icon.
It wasn't there from the beginning and even the latest update didn't brought it back.
It looks like BMW quietly removed some functionality without informing us.

If you read the updates notes, which it seems like no one does in this forum, most questions posted here wouldn’t be necessary.

Update notes say: reloading the connect drive apps after upgrade can take some time.

I have seen it can sometimes take up to 24 hours

I did read the update and it’s been 3 days since I’ve updated. That’s why I reached out for help.

Spotify still working, only weather app is greyed out and not able to open .

But for Spotify , since I bought the car it asks me to login to my account and while I login it doesnt accept my account saying should be a Premium account...
is this normal ? shouldnt car's installed Spotify app work also with normal non-premium accounts ?

No, because it is 3rd party app and must be using API to play music. To use Spotify API you must have premium account.

I have a update for a week now and no Spotify. I didn't have it before. Actually I have never seen Spotify app in my car.

As for the quality of sound in Android Auto, you can have a much better sound and deeper bass by changing the codecs.

All my greyed out apps starting working after force rebooting iDrive 8. Push and hold the power button for about 15 seconds, until it all goes black and reboots

Give it a min or two to load everything up

Yes! I had actually tried this yesterday and everything came back. Just needed a hard reset.

will a hard reset delete seat position memory , individual drive modes memory, etc ?

When I say a hard reset, I’m referring to rebooting Idrive8. Don’t do an actual full reset. Just hold the volume button down for 30 seconds and the system will turn off and on again.

yes I also thought that my idrive 8 latest OS update will only do a reboot and not full reset but after completing it my remote engine start settings have been reset as well...
