Thanks. Are those M Performance or purchased from KW/aftermarket spurce?

Just fyi...if port installed, its on the window sticker and considered oem BMW parts (the kit is made by KW's oem division for BMW, separate and different from their "retail" motorsports division).

Looks like I’ll be going back to back posts but threw this on today. That silver badge made no sense. Thanks IND-Distribution

I drove in the rain for the first time.
Man the Pirellis are useless in the rain. It’s great for sliding about, even unsolicited… every turn is a drift. I guess that’s where it sucks, compared to the Michelins.

I might change them when time comes with the non-star spec Michelin PS4S, since tyre reviews tested and confirmed the star spec are worse than the non-star. The non-star spec might be cheaper too.

Just handed the key to Matt Maran Motoring. His review should be out by the 16th.

Agreed. He's just a car enthusiast with a channel. He deserves more subs but he doesn't do shenanigans to drive views and clicks. I'm happy to give him the car to help the channel. He doesn't get BMW stuff because they won't send it to him in the Pittsburgh area.

I have 285/35/19 and 295/30/20s coming which unfortunately aren't available in star spec.

This.

I've seen this video before, and the star spec is far superior in the dry. He was 2s faster than the non-star spec tires. He has another video where IIRC he tests the star spec MPSS against the newer MPS4S and in that test the non-star spec newer MPS4S was faster than the star spec old MPSS.

Your new tire supplier with the Military discount doesn’t carry the Star spec Michelins or are you saying the slightly wider tire isn’t made in any Star spec?

I'm saying the slightly wider aren't made in star spec. Mercedes and Porsche and a few others have specs in those sizes, but not BMW.

Yes for sure. The star spec is praised as “closer to the Cup2” which is detrimental. This isn’t a fair weather care, especially in the Northwest where I live and it rains in the fall/winter 6 days a week.

Star spec seems to have been geared towards “lap times”, which are done in the dry.

I suspect the star spec Michelin is as useless as the Star spec Pirelli.

I’m wondering if you’ve driven your Pirellis in the rain so you can compare to your new Non-star Michelins and let us know to confirm!?

My suspicion is that it should be better in the rain as confirmed by Tyre reviews… but it’s hard to really compare.

Yeah on that road trip I had some rain. I didn't find them too bad, we'll see if I'm capable of detecting a difference.

I'm on a road trip through Thursday, we'll see if I hit rain during it as well. Going down the Blue Ridge Parkway and such.

When asked for a source, the video you posted literally contradicts your statement.

No it doesn’t. It corroborates my statement as I used it as the reason for my suspicion about how the tires are designed.

Justin understood it, so it wasn't something I miscommunicated.

But whatever.
