MCS 3-way Coilover install
I installed MCS coilovers several weeks ago and thought I would share this with everyone. A special thanks to BimmerWorld for helping me out and specing the system. They are great to work with and have good advice for setup depending on the tracks you drive. Going coilover is significantly more expensive than the typical HAS system but is miles better. The performance is unreal. This rides on rails without shuddering or bouncing going through corners. It is just planted.
Couple of notes: * I got the EDC errors coded out so no more annoying messages. * The gap on the front is shown with 305 tires * I am pretty sure that the sensor mounted to the front struts measures the speed of the stock strut's motion and is part of the EDC system and is no longer needed. I removed the rear sensors and there are no problems.

The good news for people looking at doing this in the future, myself and another user were guinea pigs for MCS on G87's with BimmerWorld. A lot was learned and BimmerWorld adopted these lessons into their recommendations. Coilovers without remote reservoirs are less expensive but it can be a challenge to reach the knobs.

ZPD you animal, you. And it's tuned with a bunch of other goodies. Can't wait to hear how this performs at the track. Are you going to Eagles Canyon anytime soon? Post photos of the exterior pls!

It went really good. It was freezing and windy, making for some cold tire temps and some slick track. This car is a beast; I was passing C8's and GT4's.
side note- ECR has 2 Brooklyn Grey G87's that they are turning into track cars. They were up on lifts so I didn't get a good look at what mods they are doing. There was a 3rd one parked by one of the garages but I don't know if it was owned by ECR or belonged to a member. I will post some pics later.

There's -3 degrees right now but there is room for a bit more.

Yep, I am leaving my car with him for a week. TBH, I am kinda nervous- I have never had anybody work on my cars except for A/C and tires. I have always done my own work. Everything from engine rebuilds, to supercharger installs, to setting up differential gears and suspension. The problem is that after installing SPL stuff I will need an alignment and the closest place that I have found to do an alignment for this kind of situation is ~70 miles away and that is way too far to be driving with the screwed-up alignment that I will have after install of all the links. I trust Turner and SPL, it will just be new territory for me to have someone else work on my car.

Ah wow, yeah that’s a bit of a hike for a competent alignment. Yeah turner should do a good job. He’s done my last 3 cars no real drama. Just be very clear on what specs you want. He already said he wont work on my car after doing Jackie’s lol. A lot more work work than most cars
Are you doing the full suite of parts or just a handful? Quote:

Ya on the G87 there's a bolt in the rear that you can't get off unless you drop the subframe. Bimmerworld cut the head off and tapped it out when they did a Full SPL on Louie's car which is probably a better solution than dropping the subframe.

Really tempting to go this route. Do you think the MCS 3 way will be overkill for a dual purpose car that probably will do 6 or so track days per year? What is the ride quality on the street? I talked with BW, and they recommend changing the rear upper arm for clearance if you ever run it to that with stock arms.

BTW, I changed my arms out and I noticed that my upper rear arm was hitting the sway bar when I would hit full compression. I shortened my swaybar links as far as I could. Not sure if it will make a difference but I will keep an eye on it.

They made a video on their G82, where the rear upper arm was contacting the chassis under heavy compression as a result of lowering. They added some bump stop options to help with this.
