G42 Trunk Mat Rant

I regret paying nearly $200 for this mat. It doesn't line up properly, won't stay tucked in, and still lets in dirt. It doesn't even look like it was made by BMW.

That's the end of my rant.

You’ve been done mate.
I paid £62 for mine (approx 80USD). It’s genuine and fits perfectly.
From the photos, it looks you may need to shape it a bit. The edges tuck under and sit in the groves of the removable floor panel.

It doesn't tuck in, the more I try the more it moves and does whatever it wants because it seems to have come warped.

Take a look..

Yeah that’s not good.
Wonder if you left it in the sun it would reshape.

I have this one. Fits all the way to the edges, has extra bits for the small side cubbies, and is waterproof.

Yes, I like this version better and bought it for my G87 after buying the factory one for my daughter's G42. The factory one is unnecessarily heavy.

The factory mat is not that great. I am also not impressed, was the only option at the time I purchased it. Fits just like yours.

As you should. I ended up selling mine since it was past the return period, and I bought the 3D mat and never looked back. The factory one is just trash with its horrible design, sliding backing, and coverage. Don't even think twice about keeping it unless you really love the design and are a part-time masochist.

UPDATE: I sent it back and went for the WeatherTech. Stay tuned to see if I have an issue with this one too

I really love mine. I've thrown pretty heavy Costco-filled pallets in there and it doesn't budge. And it's hella durable and not too bad on the eyes ( I am not a fan of the 3D badge, but that's minor).

Yeah I was surprised how good this mat actually is. Also very happy with it, but would rather it didn’t have the 3D badge. The badge would be pretty easy to remove, but there would be the locator holes…

Ok boys and girls, I went ahead and bought the WeatherTech mat, it came rolled up in the box ... I am about to return this warped piece of recycled tire next.

Take a look.

Can't tell what the issue is, but if the mat is out of shape from shipping, toss it on the driveway in the sun for a while, will usually go back into shape

Mat #3, the TuxMat, DO NOT BUY THIS EITHER. These companies haven't nailed it down yet what our unique trunk shape is and haven't been able to make a decent mat for it yet ..

I too have a distinct dislike for the OEM one, never fitted properly, even after heat and reshaping, slid with any load.
I finally got a much better one from carmats4u (UK), not perfect but huge improvement, the OEM now goes in as a second layer if I've mucky things to transport.

I just looked at their site, there's nothing there for the G42..
