They all do it pretty much. My F87 competition was the same. It's the type of pad material they use combined with the size of the front setup.

Mine were noisy early on but by 1200 miles had calmed down and virtually silent.

Brake dust? LOL

I changed the pads at 500 mi, so can't comment on noise from the M2 brakes. However, the brakes on my wife's X3MC (same brakes) had 17k on it before I swapped pads & they didn't make noise except in reverse.

4700 miles on mine. I have always had some intermittent squealing. It's random but also more noticeable when windows are open and I am listening for it. It's annoying.

I don't know if I am lucky or hard of hearing, but the few times I have had even minor squealing a high pressure wash and some hard breaking to dry rotors has fixed it.

I am not blind though, my wheels are usually brown.

Only at 3k miles though.

I have zero noise, not even squealing, on my 2024 M2 which is at 1200 miles.

Did I luck out or does it just randomly start?

EBC Redstuff has been our best seller for dust and noise reduction. Have a look at those.

That was me.

The front pads were too tall - all 4 of them. All needed a few mm’s shaved off to fit into the calipers. Rears fit like gloves.

YES - both to squeal & insane dust. Someone a while back posted a thread about "life changing mod at lunch time" or something like that - and that thread convinced me to get the iSweep 1500's.

For real, they are 100% quiet & the dust is lowered a good 90%+. You can drive a couple weeks easy & not have dust build up. The iSweep dust doesn't stick to every surface of the wheel & accumulate like snow in a blizzard. What does accumulate, usually in the corners, you can easily wipe off/blow off. No need to do a full wash of the wheels/car. Ceramic coat your wheels & the dust just can't stick like the OEM pads.

And I noticed no difference in stopping power - just a slightly lower initial grab. They're more mellow maybe is how I'd put it. Not like you're gonna crash into anything, just a slightly less aggressive initial bite.

And it was life altering, as much as brake pads for the sake of lower dust can be.

They're pricey, but I don't regret the buy one bit. Super easy to install.

i do plan to install themselves. watch some videos online and looks pretty straight forward. What did you use to compress the rear piston

I did the brake pads so close to new, I didn't need to compress the piston at all. One thing I did do is turned the car on, blocked the front wheels and released the parking brake. Worked like a charm!!

I used Bimmerlink, $39 iPad/iPhone program to put my car into service mode (need a WiFi ENET connector for the car, which I had) which opens the rear calipers fully and no need to remove the E-brake motors or use a caliper spreader.

https://g87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...7&postcount=64

My brakes squealed very badly (both rears) which improved after a track day, for about 100 miles then it came back worse. Then one of my stock pads delaminated (which stopped that one squeaking interestingly, but the other side still did)...but it was as loud as a dump truck. Put on iSweep 2000s and haven't regretted it 1 bit. Not a peep out of them, much less dust is another benefit I won't complain about.

I have Bimmerlink with the Bluetooth OBDLink Cx adapter and do not see that open parking brake function. Pulling the motors is kind of a pain. BTW, never had a peep out of the stock pads before I went to iSweeps at 3k mi.

Got the isweep 1500s. Shop installed them in less than an hour.. so new no need to release rear caliper piston.. no need to bed in the brakes… just drove off and felt like stock but seems to have much less dust so far.

Get up to about 80mph and break as hard as you can. It beds in the breaks and makes the squeak go away for a bit.

Is not needing to bed in the pads a characteristic of the 1500s? I was under the impression that this was always a required step.

I did a few hard almost-stops from 50 but did not do a serious bedding; they work fine.
