G87 at Summit Point (Z06, GT3 in session)
Hey Peeps,
Decided to take the G87 to Summit Point to see what she could do. Won my (SCCA Sport 1) class by 3/4 of a second over a 2022 GT4 (best of 1:20.6) and surprised myself with how good the vehicle is. OEM brakes/tires and the only 2 settings I had changed were DSC off and M mode on 5/10 along with Sport+ on suspension setting. The car handles really well (weighed in at 3960lbs with me in it) and goes like stink! With better Cup tires, this would be a weapon! Action at 6:30 second mark.... Cheers |

Nice laps! I get my G87 in a few days and I'll be hopefully on SP in a few weeks.

I thought that traction control, after DSC is turned off, is supposed to adjust the e-diff, and not do torque-vectoring via brakes. Is that not the case?

Wow, nice job!! I’m itching to try my hand at tracking this car, and summit point is where I thought of going. Looks like a really twisty, fun track!

It is moderately technical and difficulty track, and it is superbly fun. BMW CCA has a May event, come out It does not get as crowded as the session you see in the video.

Any other tracks in the area that are less technical (for a beginner)? |

The two clubs that have the best instructors, IMHO, and in no way discounting how good of a driver and instructor Lutfy is (I believe instructs with the SCCA and NASA), are the BMW CCA and the PCA. These two clubs take instructing to coaching level and do it seriously. The local BMW CCA, the NCC, this weekend had their beginners event at Summit Point Jefferson circuit, and the PCA had it last weekend. However, you can sign up to any event, and you won’t be disappointed. Edit: This is a good read --> https://www.nccbmwcca.org/2022/02/12/31925-2/
