What should I pay for PPF?

What can I expect to pay for full PPF and do you have any recommendations for the Chicago Northwest suburbs?

I was quoted a “sports pack” and ceramic coating for about $5400. A full PFF was close to $6k though I am in the Pittsburgh area.

No less than 5,000-6,000 from a reputable shop for full body PPF.

Does the sport pack include full frontend + side skirt, etc? Did you quote the Distinct Automotive? It seems to be one of the more reputable ones in the area.

And here I thought Canada always gets stiffed with the pricing when compared to the US. Here in Toronto I've been quoted 5000-5500K cad for full PPF stealth or clear. Track Pack.. full bumper, full hood, full side fenders, full roof, side mirrors and headlights for 2500-2800K cad. All quotes were from reputable shops.

It was from Blackout Tinting in Gibsonia. It includes the full front end so…full hood, front bumper, front qtr panels, A pillars, rocker panels, mirror. Again, it also included ceramic coating the entire car, the wheels and brake calipers.

I paid $775 for just the front bumper from one of the top rated shops in my city. If I could do it again I would also have done the side skirts and rear rocker panels. At 6,500 miles both of the rear rocker panels have stone chips. Get those done no matter what.

That's the exact shop I got my PPF done at

I really wish they would also install carbon fiber trim so I can go to one place and tale care of everything. I am going to try to do it myself.

I think he meant the car's wide a$$ hips? If that is a correct assumption, I would think getting TLG mud flaps would help with that.

I’ve got the Megachip splash guards waiting, I just don’t know if they going to provide adequate enough coverage for the rear hips. They don’t go down as far as other flaps do.

I guess calling it a "rear" rocker panel is a bit redundant, but this is the spot that is getting beat up:

I guess the piece of PPF on that area from the factory on the F87s makes more sense now.

Price depends on location, specific shop, type of ppf and if they are authorized installers (of the pof manufacturer).

Those with/getting the cf roof, you will want to get that done, as well.

I’ve got a G80.. 1yr old 3k miles. No PPF. I do have TLG flaps after putting minor spacers on. Not a single rock chip anywhere on the car.

I only drive on nice days and I try to keep my distance from any trucks or really any cars that seem to be kicking up anything.

Does the G87 take more abuse just being lower and with more flared rocker panels?

Got this prior to PPF on front bumper. Was not cheap to fix…

This was less than 1k miles I believe on decent roads.

Don't know that ppf would have prevented that gash (may have made it a little less serious but that is from a nasty hit).

Full Xpel Ultimate in my area is $5k. I did full front which includes, front fascia, hood, front fenders, headlights, side mirrors. I also did the a-pillar & front section of roof (before the sunroof), side rockers which includes the lower rear bumper behind the wheels. With my repeat customer/multi-vehicle discount the cost came to $2,600.

My car has 9k mi, and I frequently drive a major freeway that is littered with road debris, in addition to all the road construction going on in my area, ppf is a must.

* make sure your installer has done the G87 before and ask for close up pics. There are A LOT of ppf hack jobs posted on this forum.

In NJ, I was quoted $6500 for full PPF. Ended up paying $6k cash.

I also put the mega chip rock guards on as my roads are sandy and the rear portion of the rocker panel was taking a beating. PPF has held up fine but the rock guards should keep it cleaner for longer.

Not to thread hijack, but it seems pretty on-topic: I'm looking into getting a full-front PPF, potentially paired with a ceramic coating.

1. I spoke to one installer who uses a machine that cuts custom-patterns designed for each individual car. They end a mm or 2 from each edge, and don't wrap around any body panels. He claims this is better than wrapping around (specifically he said you CAN'T wrap around, it will tear). This doesn't sound right to me, I'm pretty sure I've seen good installers wrap the PPF around the edge and tuck it under to you can't see the edge at all, right? It seems like even if you have very precisely cut patterns, the edges will collect dirt and show, right?

2. Do PPF installers do paint correction/cleaning prior to putting the PPF on?

3. Those of you who have gotten ceramic coating...Do they ceramic coat on top of the PPF, in addition to whatever parts of the car you didn't wrap? Maybe it's a dumb question, but if you have it wrapped, why do you also need it ceramic coated?

4. I have a front lip on the way, do you guys coat/ppf your front lips usually? Or do you just put that on after the PPF is already installed?

Thanks!

1. Many of the major brands have pre-cut kits for each vehicle. To have it custom cut and wrapped would be a lot more expensive generally. They would need to remove/loosen body panels to wrap the edges. If done correctly, the seams/edges are nearly invisible and don't collect dirt. The installer makes all the difference! There are some really bad ppf jobs posted on this forum. My shop has done 5 vehicles for me, and I won't use anyone else.

2. They can do paint correction prior to - again at an additional cost. I paint corrected my 11-yr-old Corvette before it had ppf installed & I've also had 4 brand new vehicles ppf'd without paint correction. I don't see any noticeable difference between them. In fact, the ppf seems to hide any swirls in the paint from dealer PDI.

3. Yes you apply ceramic coating on top of ppf. Two different products that serve different purposes. PPF is just that, paint protection film that protects the paint from scratches, rock chips, etc. Ceramic coating does not offer protection from those things but gives a glossier/shinier appearance and makes the car easier to clean.

4. Yes, ppf front lips, side skirts, etc.
