Dinan Springs REVIEW (sportline/without DHP):
So I finally got the Dinan springs installed after ordering them nearly a week ago. I was originally on the fence with H&R/Eibach springs and even ended up buying a set of Eibach prokit springs. If anyone wants to buy them, let me know. They are still brand new in box. I was also going to get the Bilstein B8 shocks to go with the Eibach setup, but the Bilsteins ended up being back ordered, so I cancelled them. Then I heard about the Dinan springs getting close to a retail release, I decided to look into those. I did my research and saw that the Dinan springs includes revised bumpstops and also work with the stock msport/sportline shocks. Moving on to the install, had my local shop install them.
Wheel/Tire specs: Front: 20x8.5, et35, 245/35/20 Rear: 20x10, et40, 255/35/20 Comparison to stock m-sport/sportline suspension: The springs do feel a bit stiffer than the stock springs. It doesn't feel floaty anymore at all and the body roll has been definitely reduced. The car is not "bouncy" as some would think with just the spring change. Front end squat has been eliminated as well. I still need to drive on it more, but the looks has improved quite a bit. For those who have DHP, I believe these springs would be a perfect setup as opposed to those without DHP like myself. Though I have not bottomed out or felt unstable at all. The only thing currently is the rubbing over certain dips/bumps in the front. This could be due to the front shocks being too soft or maybe my tall front tire setup. Pictures are below, first three are BEFORE spring install and last 3 are AFTER spring install. As you can see the front is pretty slammed, but probably looks that way cause I'm running a 245/35 in the front.

Thanks for the review VIP....I also have Sportline 335i RWD without DHP....so I was especially interested in your review. Would you say it is 20mm? The Dinan rep I talked to today told me that on our Sportline suspension it would only be about 12 mm because the "20 mm" stat was based off of a base suspension. Confused.

I think you're right, it must be alignment or your rim size that is causing the rubbing. I'm on B8's and H&R Sport Springs, rims 20 X 9 ET 35 (front), 245/35 R20 (front) tires and do not have any rubbing issues.

Hmm. What's the main diff between a 20x8.5 and 20x9 aside from the half inch?

I have placed an order with my local agent. What is bothering me now is that I am on the m perf body kit and I am worried that the front splitter will be an issue. I am already hitting the splitter sometimes when I do not slow down sufficiently before coming to a hump or exiting a ramp.
Anyone able to provide any peace of mind? I am on sports suspension without dhp |

Great write up, thank u 4 sharing. Seems like a far better choice over the HR and Eibach options which in my opinion only deliver looks because the ride quality and safety of stability are greatly compromised. After doing an Eibach spring replacement that totally made my previous car unstable at high speeds going over a bump/dip the car was scary - never again, had to swap out for coil overs.
Anyway, for me I just want a little less body role because my f30 MSport 335i is too 5 series-ish in road manners and I am looking to stiffen up the suspension and the Dinan seem like a viable option. I am also considering the BMW Performance springs too. However coil overs are not an option because that is overkill for how I drive my 335i. |

Let us know when you decide which springs you've chosen--and why. I hadn't considered the MP springs and don't know how they compare with the Dinan. Are they set up to work with MP struts, or would they also work well with the adaptive suspension?

I've seen others run the same offset in the front and not rub.

Not at all...but that tire on a 9" wheel sits a bit stretched which reduces the height (sidewall) and width slightly, which may result in more clearance in your case. I would start by double checking your offsets to make sure they are in fact +35. Check if the offset is stamped on the back of the wheel.
