Just built my 1337 Rig!
Hey guys, so I got my brother's parts in yesterday for his new comp, and basically built it for him. Pretty kickass system!
here are the specs(not super detailed, but i'll update it later) Asus P6T-deluxe motherboard Intel Core i7 920 2.66ghz processor DDR3 tri-channel memory 2gbRAM X 3 Nvidia GTX280 Video Card (1gb of video ram) 2x1TB Hard drives in raid 0 Samsung DVD-RW DL drive Antec 900 case Audigy X-Fi Sound card G15 Keyboard All that for about $2k! I'll get pics up once I get home Quick question though, I'm trying to install XP 64-bit and i'm having problems setting it up in Raid 0 I keep getting this Blue screen of death during the installation I updated the BIOS too...any ideas? it's like 0x0000007B or something...I know it has to do w/ the raid 0 because it worked fine when I tried to install it on normal IDE connection.... Thanks guys! Edit: got the Raid drivers, Asus Mobos don't support USB floppies so had to install an internal one temporarily...got that figured out. I SO need to clean up all the wires now....bah, usually happens when making a new comp...wires scrambled everywhere... Last edited by darkphantom; 12-10-2008 at 07:20 PM.. |

Congrats on your new system.
I've had a few issues with blue screens prior to installing windows before. Is your computer POSTing alright? And when in the installation process of Windows is it failing? My trouble mostly delt with RAM voltage settings. I would recommend you look up the recommended voltage to run your ram at and make sure your BIOS is set up to comply.

figured it out
Stated on the Asus website that you need a freakin' Internal Floppy drive to install the sata/raid drivers!!
Luckily I have a few lying around...well one from the broken machine and one from my dad's old PC, so using that...will update you once I get everything up and running! |

Just curious, what type of RAID 0 are you using?
EDIT: Never mind, it looks like the motherboard has some sort of built in RAID controller from your post. Last edited by radix; 12-10-2008 at 09:15 PM.. |

Nice Rig. That's gonna post some sweet Benchmarks once you get it fired up and running.
If you want to get some ideas for cable management and custom case mods, check out this thread devoted to the Antec 900. There are some killer looking installations! http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...126395&page=54

I dig the picture. System looks nice. Seeing the GTX280 installed in a 900 case really tells you how huge these new cards are.
Is your CPU heatsink a zalman? How do you like it?

Dual booting w/ Vista 64bit, will be installing that today.
I need to really wait for Windows 7, which is basically a SUPER PATCHED Vista... I will have to because half the applications are now only catering to Vista... |
