Macbook Pro: 15" vs 17"?
First things first, would you choose the 17" version over the 15" for $500 extra?
Secondly, I love the redesigned version, glossy screen and all. When do you think they'll release the redesigned 17" version? I know Macworld is in a few weeks, any chance it'll be then? |

LOL I have a Vaio, and just downloaded Windows 7 Beta. As great as it may be, I have no intention of switching to Apple anytime soon. I'm writing an article for the school newspaper and chose the new Macbooks as my topic, hence this thread.

Do any of you guys have the multi-touch trackpad? I played around with it at the apple store for a while, but if I'm writing about it, it'd be nice to have someones opinion who has actually used the trackpad for computing.

Tough decision, but as an owner of a 17" MBP with the Hi-Res 1920x1200 screen it is tough to buy the unibody 15" MBP as I love the screen space the resolution gives me. If I was upgrading to a new MBP, I would wait until the 17" goes unibody.

I have the 15" and love it, IMO the 17" is just a little to big if you carry it around everywhere

I have the 17 inch. If you're a gamer I would go for the 17 inch if not go for the 15 inch since it's slightly more portable.
I go to college locally so my laptop just stays at home 99% of the time. |

I have the 15" an like it for the size. I have a desktop for truely intensive computing.
Oh, and incase you didn't hear, Apple pulled out of MacWorld, they are no longer going to be there to release products. Jobs passed the keynotes for the upcoming one on to some other guy.

I would take the new MBP 15" over the old 17" any day.

The 15" has a much better GPU at the moment. So for gaming, the 15" unibody macbook pros are the way to go for portable gaming. I'm dual booting vista for gaming and can run Left 4 Dead at native res, with everything on high except for AA and get a solid 40-50fps even when hordes of zombies are charging. Being able to own a portable mac and play all the games I want on it is a beautiful thing.

It took me about 10 months before I started to love Mac OS and despise windows.

That's because Dells are bulky POS's. The MBP's are much easier to deal with.
Seriously, I carry my 17" MBP to class everyday and I don't regret it. It is only an inch wider and deeper then the 15" MBP and it isn't too much of more of a burden in my experience. |
