Play loud music when visibility is very poor

On the morning cruise through the highway, the fog got thicker and thicker.
Visibility was very poor. I was driving my E85 with the top down.
So, I played loud music to ensure the driver of any vehicles in the back noticed my present.
I never play music when driving with the top down.
I didn't know for sure they could listen if they have their windows up.
Just curious, anybody else did the same?

I'd just switch on the fog lights but that's just me...

Cars are so insulated these days that a siren is hard to hear. With the cloud cover (fog) "absorbing" and deadening the sound, I doubt paying the music loud would have any effect.

That's absolutely mental. Fully crazy. Everyone knows that fog lights are for driving on clear nights...

Which I guess is why BMW decided some models no longer need fog lights.

They had to delete something to make room for the larger grilles!

Personally, I would be driving tunes off and windows down in visibility-challenged conditions. Hearing (the person blasting their tunes in front of you to be "seen") is very important when visibility is limited.....

There's plenty of room for fog lights. I can't imagine why they did away with them.

I'm sure that your anger probably needs to be vented towards the NHTSA. They will not let us have all of the nice things from Europe, like smart laser headlights that I suspect don't need added fog lights.....

Dude, fog messes with sound waves, making it even harder for others to hear you

What music was it? I feel that's an important factor for your safety.

What you can’t see in very heavy rain or fog is stopped traffic, especially a fresh accident (without emergency vehicles and their lights on site yet). Usually when I drive in those conditions and on good tires, I am among the slightly faster vehicles but not so fast that I don’t see other moving vehicles as I close on them. I watch carefully for brake lights and any sign of an accident (like other cars suddenly moving to the side). I’d drive slower but then I feel more vulnerable to a rear-end collision. It takes all my concentration to drive in those conditions, especially at dawn/dusk (hardest for me to see then), so no music and no talking.

Yellow “sunglasses” seem to help with visibility more than anything else (except at night when they are useless).

Some people drive with flashers on in those conditions, but they don’t seem to me to be any more visible than those with just their headlights/taillights.

I assumed it was a joke when he said Bee Gees, hence my Staying Alive response being the punch line.

Tbh I assumed this whole thread was either a joke or rage-bait.

If the OP seriously thinks their music is loud enough for another driver to hear it from further away than lights are visible, or that another driver if they did hear the music would then be able to take evasive action because of it.... It's just not happening, unless the 2nd driver is a bat. Anyone who does notice the music is just going to think OP is "odd" for playing the bee gees at full volume.
